Textile Dream Weavers – Elkin Collaborates with Marton Mills Tweeds

Elkin a luxury fashion brand based in Macclesfield, is collaborating with Marton Mills in Otley, Yorkshire on a fashion forward Spring/Summer tweed skirt collection.
Both textile businesses are family run from long-established heritage textile mills. The exquisitely tailored skirts showcase Marton Mills’ signature tweeds and the unique hand-pleating and finishing that has built Elkin’s reputation over its 68-year history.
Designed in-house at Elkin, the collection offers customers a blend of tradition and modernity, creating skirts that are both classic and on-trend. Colours are chosen to be exciting and fashion forward, bringing a new generation appeal to tweeds – a timeless fabric that featured strongly at London Fashion Week 2024.
Bill Gorton, owner at Elkin, said: “We have used Marton Mills fabrics for many years.  Both our businesses have a rich heritage in textiles, and this collaboration allows us to combine our expertise to bring something really special to our customers.”
Francis Dodson, sales director at Marton Mills, said: “This exciting partnership comes at a time when UK textile businesses are benefiting from the fashion world valuing the quality of British craftsmanship and its part in the slow fashion landscape. The collection is absolutely beautiful and we’re thrilled to be a part of the Elkin story.”
The collaboration between Elkin and Marton Mills highlights the importance of preserving and celebrating the heritage of family textile businesses. By coming together to create a collection that honours tradition while embracing innovation, both brands are setting a new standard for craftsmanship and creativity in the fashion industry.
