Trainline has announced TrainLive, a one-day music festival taking place in a London train station (yet to be revealed!) on Friday 8th December.

This year, Trainline are turning the festive season into festival season by offering customers free tickets to the event to enjoy a moment of entertrainment during their journey.

Research found that 49% of Brits enjoy an unexpected live music performance whilst they are waiting in a station, making TrainLive the perfect way to add some festive cheer to journeys by train.

TrainLive will see some of London’s finest buskers go from the station platforms to the TrainLive stage, performing for an intimate audience, alongside the newly reunited iconic British band Sugababes, who has been named as the headline act and will play a mix of songs, from classics like Too Lost In You, to their latest song When The Rain Comes. There may even be a classic Christmas rendition from the iconic trio to bring the festive feels.

The festive season sees busy Brits travelling around the country, with 84% of Brits revealing they are busier in December than in any other month. Over a quarter (27%) of Brits will be travelling to a Christmas market over the next month, whilst 26% will travel to visit friends. Christmas shopping is also a factor, with 20% travelling to bigger shopping centres to get the perfect gifts for loved ones.

Sakshi Anand, VP of Growth and UK General Manager Trainline, said: “We’ve always been committed to getting journeys off to a great start, by making it easy to find and buy great-value rail tickets. Now we want to get Christmas off to a great start too, by hosting our first ever music festival in a station. From new artists to our iconic headliners, we hope our festive festival helps bring a moment of joy to travellers this Christmas.”

The Sugababes said: “When Trainline asked us to headline its first-ever music event in a London Station we were excited to be part of it, particularly when we heard that the event will be supporting up and coming music talent, giving them a platform to perform. This will be an intimate gig for us, and with all of us being born & bred in London, we’re excited to perform.”
