The arrival of the new year will no doubt help motivate many prospective purchasers to begin their homebuying journey – or pick up the house hunt with renewed gusto. For those looking to step onto the ladder in a popular east London neighbourhood this January, L&Q is offering its final collection of one- and two-bedroom Shared Ownership and Private Sale apartments at The Chain.

L&Q is offering both flexibility and affordability at The Chain. Customers who reserve a Shared Ownership home before 31st January will receive up to £2,000 towards buying costs, as well as a £500 One4all voucher to help settle into their new space. What’s more, each new homeowner will receive a 3-year complimentary membership to L&Q’s official car club, Zipcar. A final remaining one-bedroom apartment is also available for Private Sale, with a £500 mortgage contribution per month for 12-months if reserved before the end of January.*

Claire Brenlund, Sales and Marketing Director at L&Q, comments: “The Chain is a wonderful development nestled within a vibrant and diverse east London neighbourhood. With cycle storage to each home, excellent travel connections, spacious floorplans and a landscaped communal garden, residents can enjoy the perks of modern life in the capital.

“This final collection of homes at The Chain offers a great opportunity to step onto the property ladder in an increasingly sought after area, helping buyers who may otherwise feel priced out of the open market.”

Homes at The Chain feature generously sized open-plan kitchen/living/dining areas for functional living, including plenty of room for working-from-home requirements. Kitchens benefit from fully integrated appliances, including oven, induction hob, dishwasher and fridge-freezer. A freestanding washer/dryer is also tucked away in a utility cupboard for added convenience. Bedrooms include carpet and a mirrored wardrobe is built-in to all main bedrooms. Modern bathrooms benefit from a shower screen over the bath and white sanitaryware. Low energy LED lighting features throughout the homes and further security is aided by a video door entry system. Each home has access to a private balcony or terrace, for all-important outside space in the capital.

The Chain is virtually a car-free development as part of its commitment to sustainability, with each home having access to secure, onsite cycle storage. A cycle themed development – block names include Rally Building, Tandem house and Velo House – The Chain takes inspiration from the borough’s ‘Mini Holland’ scheme, enveloped by the wider Healthy Streets Approach from the Mayor of London. For weekend adventures on two wheels, The Chain is close to several fantastic parks and forests. Notably, the Walthamstow Wetlands is just a 6-minute cycle from homes and offers an opportunity to connect with nature in the capital.

Resident at The Chain, Ivan, comments: “Having lived in North London for a long time, I’d seen Walthamstow grow into a very trendy area, especially for young professionals. It’s really entrepreneurial and there are lots of cool pop-up places, wine bars, the Sunday social market and a variety of independent restaurants – we’re massive foodies so this was really important.” Walthamstow is home to a number of trendy eateries, shops, art studios and pubs including CRATE St James and Sodo Pizza, as well as the William Morris Gallery and pottery studio SkandiHus.

“The transport links are excellent,” adds Patritsiya, Ivan’s sister who also bought at The Chain, “St James Overground Station and Walthamstow Central Underground, which is serviced by the Victoria Line, are both a short walk away. This makes it quick for me to get to Liverpool Street where my office is. I can also easily reach Oxford Circus and Shoreditch to see my friends. And, amazingly, a new Soho Theatre is going to be opening soon, so we won’t even need to travel to see West End shows and musicals!” King’s Cross St Pancras can also be reached directly, linking locals to international connections. For added convenience, the Superloop SL1 bus route services homes at The Chain, running from North Finchley to Walthamstow Bus Station. Residents can also travel by Walthamstow’s cycling network, including Transport for London’s Quietway 2.

Current prices for Shared Ownership homes at The Chain start from £123,750 for a 25% share of one-bedroom apartment (full market value: £495,000). Pricing for the final remaining one-bedroom Private Sale apartment is £350,000.
