Micro & Hydro Bobs Are Taking Over Our Feeds- An Expert Reveals All

With Micro & Hydro bobs are taking over our social media feeds, Celeb Hair Stylist Katie Allan provides her expert comment on the difference between the two and why it’s the style to know about this spring/summer…

“Micro bobs are huge this spring/summer. The different ways in which they can be cut and styled means they are suited to most hair and face shapes. For more of an androgynous look you can keep the shape short and sharp, highlighting the jaw line. This means that it suits most people and accentuates your bone structure.

It can also be tailored to various hair textures. If your hair is straight a blunt cut looks sleek and sophisticated, whereas having layers adds dimension for those with textured and curly hair.

For a softer more feminine effect you can keep the edges softer and razored to allow for more elegant edges. It’s an effortless look that makes a statement without trying too hard, it’s also classic and timeless. Putting a modern twist on a classic look. To maintain this look I’d recommend visiting your hairdresser regularly to keep on top of your cuts and ensure the length is above or on the jawline.

    So what’s a hydro bob?

Hydro bob is a way of styling the shape of a bob to have a more wet/sleek look to add to the definition of the shape. If you want a true wet look, baby oil is a great product to use and this look is ideal for the warmer weather. The wet look that creates shine and gloss is what creates the ‘hydro’ finish. From JLo to Hailey Bieber and America Ferrera I have seen a lot of celebrities embracing the hydro bob for a statement look. Ensure you use a lot of hydrating treatments to give your hair a moisture boost, and bring in some inspirational images to the salon so your Stylist knows the finished look you’re trying to achieve. As this style requires a lot of hydration, ensure you use leave in conditioners, hydrating masks to keep your hair healthy and to create a refined hydro bob that will hold.”
