Easton is the fluffy, real life star of a charming series of children’s books destined to become kids classics.

A rescue dog who was born in Pennsylvania and adopted by elementary school teacher Elizabeth Retter and her family in Toronto, Canada; Easton inspired Retter to become an author.  Her background in theatre and voice add to the imagination and melodic tone found in her stories.

In her more than two decades as an educator, she developed a love for children’s books of all styles – and a passion for inspiring children’s literacy. “I believe that it is so important for children to develop a love of reading at an early age as well as learning how to give back in their community,” she says.

In the Easton series, she has cleverly paired these elements with her love of animals.  She is hopeful that “The Adventures of Easton the Rescue Pet Series,” will shine a light on the need for all rescue animals to find their forever homes.

Retter says she has been thrilled at the reaction to the books.

“Since Easton’s first book has come out, I have truly enjoyed my author visits to both schools & libraries.
The children are really enjoying the interactive read alouds and singing that go on during the presentation. They love meeting a real author and learning that Easton is a real life character in these books.”

In an interview with Tellwell, the author recently said: “By writing this book series, I hope that when people are looking for a pet they will consider rescuing animals who are looking for their forever homes. My motto is, “Don’t buy new, RESCUE.”

The now celebrity canine even has his own song which you can hear on the website.

    E— eats everything in sight.
A— always loyal, day or night.
S— so happy to be rescued.
T— to Toronto with the Retter crew.
O— one of the best dogs we know.
N— now to our story-Let’s GO!

    The Books:

The Adventures of Easton the Rescue Pet: The Dog in the Deli
One Sunday morning, Easton woke up to some terrible news. Due to the pandemic, there was going to be a meat shortage. In a panic, Easton decided to take matters into his own paws and escape to the local deli. Easton’s family, the deli and its customers had no idea what they were in for! This is a true story of a rescue dog who loves a good adventure!

The Adventures of Easton the Rescue Pet: Homeward Bound

Homeward Bound is the second book in The Adventures of Easton the Rescue Pet series and is the follow-up book to the debut title, The Dog in the Deli.

    Coming Soon!

Puppy School Pandemonium is the third book in The Adventures of Easton the Rescue Pet series and is the follow-up book to The Dog in the Deli and Homeward Bound. Based on personal experience, this story follows Easton on a new adventure to puppy school! What will he learn there, and how will he keep his behavior on track to graduate? The book stresses the importance of adopting rescue pets, and will be a fabulous read aloud for dog lovers ― and their companion children ― to enjoy.

Find all the books in the series at Elizabeth Retter website or on Amazon, or at your favourite online bookseller.
