    London has been named as Europe’s best destination for breakfast lovers

    London has been revealed as the best destination in Europe for breakfast lovers, in a new study by loveholidays. With over 40.8 billion views for the TikTok hashtag for #breakfast and a 132% increase in people searching for the ‘Best breakfast/brunch places near me’, it seems people certainly like to start their day off right.

    Whether it’s the first sip of coffee or bite of a croissant, there is no denying food is one of the best parts of travel and people are increasingly prioritising delicious breakfast options when considering their next trip. But, which city in Europe is the best for breakfast and brunch?

    Looking at factors such as the number of bakeries, breakfast restaurants, coffee shops and social media posts, online travel agent, loveholidays has revealed the best cities in Europe for breakfast, to help culinary enthusiasts decide on which destination to visit for their next trip.

    London takes the top spot as the best city for breakfast enthusiasts thanks to its 4002 breakfast cafes, 248 bakeries and 1090 coffee shops. With over 500,000 social posts for #breakfastlondon too, visitors are sure to find a place worth posting about.

    Rome comes in second place and is where you’ll be able to get the most affordable coffee (£1.31) at one of its almost 400 coffee shops. Paris, Barcelona and Milan round out the top five best breakfast cities.

    The top 10 destinations for breakfast lovers are:

    • London (248 bakeries, 4002 breakfast cafes,1090 coffee shops and an average coffee price of £3.56)
    • Rome (240 bakeries, 1660 breakfast cafes, 394 coffee shops and an average coffee price of £1.31)
    • Paris (287 bakeries, 2482 breakfast cafes, 210 coffee shops and an average coffee price of £3.33)
    • Barcelona (150 bakeries, 2125 breakfast cafes, 323 coffee shops and an average coffee price of £1.97)
    • Milan (197 bakeries, 1237 breakfast cafes, 323 coffee shops and an average coffee price of £1.62)
    • Istanbul (107 bakeries, 1688 breakfast cafes, 389 coffee shops and an average coffee price of £1.93)
    • Madrid (111 bakeries, 1670 breakfast cafes, 262 coffee shops and an average coffee price of £1.79)
    • Edinburgh (39 bakeries, 594 breakfast cafes, 190 coffee shops and an average coffee price of £3.36)
    • Manchester (51 bakeries, 863 breakfast cafes, 189 coffee shops and an average coffee price of £3.37)
    • York (14 bakeries, 247 breakfast cafes, 73 coffee shops and an average coffee price of £3)

    Commenting on the research, Al Murray, Chief Marketing Officer at loveholidays, says: “Whether you’re more of a pastry and a coffee kind of person, or you’re after a full plate of pancakes – starting the day off with a delicious breakfast is key for any foodie.

    “If you love your coffee and breakfast food and the research has prompted you to visit one of these cities, be sure to explore and try out those smaller chain and independent spots too.”
