The world’s biggest whisky club is hosting a series of special events and releasing a limited-edition bottle to celebrate the 25th anniversary of its London members rooms at 19 Greville Street in Hatton Garden – and non-members are invited to join the festivities.

The main event at the whisky bar, which boasts more than 500 limited edition single malts, will be The Gathering on Wednesday 25th September, featuring a tasting of four 25-year-old whiskies, hosted by the Society’s Master Ambassador John McCheyne. The Society will also be hosting other special events around the anniversary, including tastings with Glenallachie distillery’s Ambassador Ronan Currie (18 September) and The Heart Cut’s co-founder Georgie Bell (24th September). All the events are open to whisky fans who are not members of the Society.

For its silver anniversary, The Society is releasing a limited-edition bottle of single cask single malt whisky. Called ‘A Sliver Darling’, the whisky was distilled in 1999, the year Greville Street opened, and matured for 19 years in an oloroso sherry butt followed by five years in a first fill Pedro Ximénez hogshead.

Founded in Edinburgh in 1983, the Society now has more than 41,000 members in the UK and around the world, with international branches in countries such as Taiwan, China and Japan. Its Greville Street member’s rooms was its first venue outside of Scotland.

Due to Greville Street’s central location, it has often hosted famous faces – from chef Jamie Oliver’s team to Westminster MPs.

Simone Malavolta, General Manager at Greville Street, said: “We have built an incredible community of like-minded whisky fans over the years, many of whom have developed life-long friendships over a few drams. We believe whisky brings people together, and invite anyone who is interested in what we do to join us as we celebrate this milestone, and toast the next 25 years of flavour discovery together.”
