Love is in the air… or is it? This Valentine’s season, Napo, the UK’s suuuper comprehensive pet insurer, is inviting dog owners – and their prized hounds – to a unique, one-off event ahead of the most romantic day of the year.
Get ready for ‘Sniff Out a Love Rat’, a one-of-a-kind dog training session where your pup’s powerful nose will put potential heartbreakers to the test.
Taking place on Tuesday 11th February in Islington, the event has been created for those who hold a lingering suspicion of doubt over their partner’s fidelity. Discovered a mysterious item of lingerie or a pair of random socks? This ‘first of its kind’ one-to-one scent detection event will equip your pooch with all the detective skills it needs to track down a potential cheater.
Working with some of the UK’s leading dog trainers and behaviourists and based around Napo’s existing scent training events, those in attendance will learn the basics of ‘man-trailing’, a form of scent training used to help dogs find a person through their unique smell.
Lasting 30 minutes, and running from 10am to 4pm, each session will also include an introduction to trailing theory, beginner trails and then the ultimate final hunt for the ‘cheater’.
Entry is free to those who wish to attend, but spaces are limited, so those looking to land a spot for their good doggos on the highly-coveted scent training course need only register their pooch’s interest here before they get sniffed up!
Ludovic Lacay, Co-Founder at Napo Pet Insurance, said: “At Napo, we know the best part of having a dog is making memories together and strengthening that special bond between pooch and pup parent.
“Scentwork keeps pups mentally and physically engaged, and helps them feel happier and healthier. Basically, it’s like a brain workout, but way more fun. So with Valentine’s Day around the corner, what better way to celebrate your dog’s super sniffer than by putting it to the test? “Whether you’re single, smitten, or suspicious, it’s a hilarious way to have fun with your pup while giving them an enriching challenge, making their long life a fulfilled one.”
Award-winning dog trainer and dog behaviourist expert, Rachel Rodgers, said: “Dogs have an incredible sense of smell – it’s basically their superpower! Scent work is a fun, low-impact way to keep their brains engaged and their tails wagging. Man-trailing taps into their natural instincts, and whether your pup is able to expose a cheater or not, they’ll definitely have a blast putting their nose to the test! It’s a fun experience for all breeds and sizes – no scentwork experience needed.”
