London, June 2025: Step into a season of sweetness and enchantment as Café Claire at Oriental Residence Bangkok – proudly managed by ONYX Hospitality Group – unveils its whimsical “Alice in Wonderland Afternoon Tea Set.” This limited-edition experience is created in collaboration with Journal, a premium Thai perfume house known for its evocative scents and elegant design.
Inspired by the beloved literary classic, the afternoon tea invites guests on a multi-sensory journey where delicate flavours meet curated aromas. Each menu item reflects iconic characters and moments from Alice’s fantastical world, while Journal’s signature fragrances subtly infuse the setting with a sense of wonder and nostalgia. As an added delight, guests will also receive a complimentary Journal diffuser – a keepsake to continue the sensory experience at home and relive the magic long after the final sip.
A Whimsical Feast of Flavour and Fantasy
The enchanting menu features a delightful selection of both sweet treats and savoury delights, each crafted to bring joy and satisfaction with every bite.
A highlight is the ‘Eat Me’ éclair, a delicate, airy pastry filled with velvety hazelnut cream, gently dusted with sugar, and playfully inscribed with its curious invitation. This charming creation evokes the magic and wonder of a storybook dream. Or choose the “Queen of Hearts” strawberry tart, a charming creation adorned with fresh strawberries, offering a perfectly balanced sweet-and-tart flavour inspired by the iconic Queen of Hearts herself.
Step deeper into the enchanting charm of Wonderland with the “White Rabbit’s Carrot Delight”, a moist carrot cake infused with crunchy walnuts and aromatic spices, crowned with smooth cream cheese frosting, and finished with a sweet little white sugar rabbit.
Next, delight in the “Card Soldier’s Yuzu Surprise,” a square-shaped yuzu mousse cake filled with a creamy mango jelly. It is also adorned with playing card symbols, representing a greeting from the loyal card soldiers. The journey continues to the Queen’s summer garden with the “Wonderland Grove” – a refreshing macaron infused with coconut and lemon. With its crisp shell and soft, delicate centre, this sweet and tangy treat captures the feeling of strolling through a beautiful garden.
For those who prefer a more traditional indulgence, the ‘Classic Scone’ offers timeless charm. Served warm with fruit jam and cottage cream, it’s the perfect interlude in this whimsical tale.
Complete the delightful journey with a selection of savoury bites, thoughtfully curated to complement the delicate aromas of fine tea. Begin with the “Tea Garden”, a thin cucumber sandwich subtly infused with the fresh scent of coriander, offering a refreshing taste that captures the elegance of traditional English tea culture. For those who enjoy smoked salmon, the “Cheshire’s Garden” is sure to bring a smile. This savoury delight features smoked salmon atop soft focaccia bread, generously spread with herb cream and garnished with olives, capers, and microgreens. Fragrant and smooth, it’s as charming as the Cheshire Cat, a mischievous, grinning cat who can disappear, one of the most playful characters in the story.
Elevate the experience with the ‘Queen’s Croquet’, a golden, flaky puff pastry encasing tender duck croquettes. Rich in flavour and impeccably crafted, this regal delight captures the elegance and authority befitting the Queen of Hearts herself.
Additionally, there are playful flavours to enjoy, like the “March Hare’s Forest Tartlet”, a crispy butter tart filled with wild mushrooms and brie cheese, infused with the aromas of thyme and truffle. While offering a rich and comforting taste, it also captures the madness and spirited charm of the March Hare. Alongside this is the playful “Mad Hatter,” a vol-au-vent style crispy puff pastry filled with smooth avocado cream, peas, and asparagus. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, it delivers a surprisingly balanced and delightful flavour, capturing the fun spirit of the Mad Hatter in every bite.
A final touch of enchantment is the zesty ‘Drink Me’ lemonade, a refreshing nod to Wonderland’s most iconic potion.
The “Alice in Wonderland Afternoon Tea Set” offers an imaginative, multidimensional experience that delights every sense, available daily during afternoon tea from 14:30 to 17:30 hrs at Café Claire, Oriental Residence Bangkok.
Available until 31st August 2025, this magical journey is priced at 1,599++ Baht for two people.
To extend the enchantment beyond the table, Journal is offering a complimentary Journal Diffuser (valued at 890 Baht) to each guest who enjoys this whimsical afternoon tea set—allowing them to take home and savour the unforgettable fragrance.
