Rotpunkt shortlisted at Designerati Awards 2024

One Mission, Zero Emissions – Brand Achievement of the Year Award

Rotpunkt, leading designer and manufacturer of climate friendly German Kitchen furniture is excited to announce its ongoing ‘Together to Zero’ strategy that underlines its one mission to zero emissions has been shortlisted at this year’s Designerati Awards, named a finalist in the ‘Brand Achievement of the Year’ category.

Now in its 24th year, the winners will be revealed during the annual designerati Awards ceremony on Thursday, November 14, 2024, held at City Central at the HAC, located on Chiswell Street in London. Celebrated for recognising kitchen and bathroom design excellence, The Brand Achievement of the Year category acknowledges the great leaps forward made by industry brands that go above and beyond their day-to-day business operations from sustainable leadership, trailblazing marketing techniques, and bold rebranding, to a commitment to apprenticeships.

Rotpunkt is laser-focused on delivering green solutions throughout its supply chain and Matt Phillips, Head of UK Operations at Rotpunkt says: “I am thrilled our ongoing commitment to the design and manufacture of climate-friendly furniture that does not compromise on style, quality or innovation has been shortlisted by the expert judging panel at this year’s designerati Awards. As a business, we are very proud to have our brand achievements in protecting the home and planet in front of the design elite to inspire a greener future across the built environment.”

Following its partnership with Pfleiderer Deutschland, Rotpunkt introduced BioBoard, a sustainable and environmentally alternative to traditional chipboards. Ongoing innovation led to the development of BioBoard Gen2, which consists of up to 90% recycled wood without compromising on style or quality. This versatile material is one of the most environmentally friendly chipboards ever used in kitchen design, becoming a key pillar of the company’s social-environmental policy up to 2030.

Rotpunkt continues to ‘avoid-reduce-compensate’ and ensure environmentally friendly and energy efficient production of all its furniture. For instance, using BioBoard Gen2 reduces the use of virgin wood in the supply chain, and any emissions that cannot be avoided or reduced are off set through sustainability projects.

Optimising manufacturing processes for greener productions and offering employees a healthy working environment ensures that Rotpunkt’s sustainability pledge covers every aspect of its operations. For example, batch production at the company’s Getmold plant has significantly reduced the amount of waste materials, plus the company has also switched to green energy from approved suppliers. A focus on energy and sustainability is inherent throughout including intelligent lighting solutions to reduce energy consumption, a photovoltaic system to harness solar power, high energy class building construction and installation of hot-water-buffer for more efficient heating.

95% of all Rotpunkt furniture is Forest Stewardship Council-certified, and the company only uses wood from sustainable forests in Germany, Austria and France where working conditions are fair and human rights are respected.

Matt adds, “With so much innovation in the kitchen sector right now, I want to take this opportunity to wish all the finalists’ good luck, and we hope that 2024 is the year to have our contributions in the advancement of green kitchen design be honoured on such a grand scale.”
