The calculator created by clean energy company egg shows the potential revenue UK businesses could generate by providing electric vehicle charging stations for public use.  It is intended to give businesses the opportunity to create an additional revenue stream at a time when many are feeling the pinch financially.

There are now over 1,000,000 fully electric cars on UK roads, along with a further 620,000 plug-in hybrids and demands for a better infrastructure to support members of the public continues to grow. Businesses can utilise outdoor areas or existing car parks to provide a much needed service in an underused space up to 24 hours a day  and after an initial cost for installation which can be paid back, calculations from egg predict that having five chargers open to the public 24 hours a day could generate up to £800,000 in revenue in just one year and smaller spaces could see up to £300,000.

Mike Hallam, CEO of egg said: “Our EV calculator empowers business leaders to make informed decisions by clearly illustrating the financial and environmental benefits of integrating EV charging. Garden centres, cinema car parks, underused shopping centres and similar businesses could be sitting on thousands of pounds of potential revenue. Not only will an EVC facility encourage footfall to the chargers, businesses could also see an increased interest in their core business as drivers look to spend time at the destination whilst their car charges.”

Egg’s initiative aims to make clean energy more accessible and help businesses make solid decisions that benefit them and their users. Unlike others, egg partners with businesses long after install, helping them adapt, upgrade and improve their clean energy solutions for years to come to get the most out of their investment.

Launched in 2022, Leeds based business egg provides clean energy solutions to B2B and B2C customers in the form of electric vehicle chargers, solar panels and battery storage. Acknowledging the world of clean energy is unnecessarily confusing at times, egg aims to put the customer experience as the centre of everything they do. This includes negating nervousness around the investment, simplifying both the application and install process, and providing the full end to end support people need as the market evolves.
