Over 400 members of the local community gathered at Redrow London’s Colindale Gardens development for their second annual Moon Festival last week.

At the event, residents of the North West London development welcomed the wider community for a traditional East and Southeast Asian cultural festival. Celebrated on the 15th day of the 8th month of the lunar calendar, it is a day when the moon is believed to be at its brightest.

During the celebration attendees were able to caste their wishes to the moon and had a go at making lanterns with given lantern paperwork or paper brought from home. Attendees also enjoyed free mooncakes and had the chance to tackle 60 lantern riddles – 16 in English, 38 in Chinese – as well as six maths riddles!

The event was organised by the Colindale Gardens Social Committee which aims to provide activities that build a harmonious and happy community. Since being formed in 2020, the committee has been organising activities and events such as yoga classes, International Women’s Day and the annual Colindale Gardens Summer Fair. They have also created several clubs for residents to join such as their Family Club, Gardens Club and Board Games Club.

Lavender Ma, Member of the Colindale Gardens Social Committee, said: “Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate the Moon Festival. It was such a beautiful event and it was wonderful to see so many people come together to pay homage to the moon in all her beauty and glory!”

James Holmear, Group Sales Director at Redrow, said: “Community plays a huge role in choosing where to live and events like these are really important for fostering community and helping neighbours meet one another. The Colindale Gardens Social Committee continues to go from strength to strength and the breadth of activities they organise is very impressive. It was great to see so many people from different backgrounds come together for this wonderful celebration!”

A range of studio, one and two bedroom homes are now available Redrow’s Colindale Gardens in North West London. These luxurious, high specification apartments are surrounded by open green space yet close to amenities and excellent train links into central London.

Colindale Gardens has recently launched its Discount Market Sale Scheme to help first-time buyers get on the property ladder. Through the scheme, available to any first-time buyer who lives or works in any London Borough, 27 one and two bedroom homes will be sold at a 20% reduction to the market value.
