Married at First Sight UK star and bridal designer April Banbury stepped out in style alongside friend, actor and TV & radio presenter Scott McGlynn, at the London premiere of the new horror film Dangerous Animals (in cinemas from 6 June).
“I love a good horror film, and this one had me literally on the edge of my seat,” said April. True to her signature look, she joked: “I’ve slipped into something bridal—again! And I have to say, the only thing silkier than the film’s plot twist is my dress!”
April recently unveiled her debut bridal collection, and her designs have already captured the attention of celebrity fans. Kelsey Parker, widow of The Wanted’s Tom Parker, attended a private preview and praised the collection, while Love Island finalist Matilda Draper took to social media to share her excitement, posting “I can’t cope” as she tried on several of the show-stopping gowns.
April describes her collection as “a modern and unique twist on classic elegance”. The road to launching her brand, however, hasn’t been without its challenges. Despite earning a BA (Hons) in Fashion Design, April faced significant hurdles—including serious health issues like a debilitating disc prolapse and discouragement from a former partner who dismissed her dreams as “a pipe dream.”
“Having my aspirations dismissed only made me more determined,” she shares. “Launching my own brand is a dream come true. There’s no better feeling than helping a bride find the most important dress of her life.”
April also caused a stir on Instagram recently by announcing a giveaway of her iconic MAFS UK wedding gown—a couture creation she designed and stitched herself in just two weeks ahead of her whirlwind TV wedding in 2022.
“I made this dress for my own wedding day, and it means the world to me,” she shared. “But it deserves to be loved again—not locked away in a wardrobe. Whether you’re planning your dream wedding, entering a pageant, or just want a slice of reality TV glam, I can’t wait to pass it on to someone special.”
