L&Q’s first Rent to Buy homes have launched in Chatham, Kent, bringing a range of homes to the heart of Kent’s Medway district.

Offering a range of two- and three-bedroom apartments alongside three- and four- bedroom houses, Capstone Green offers residents the balance of open green spaces and contemporary living, just a short hop from London.

Rent to Buy is a government-backed initiative that helps tenants transition from renting to homeownership, with rents set at approximately 80% of a similar property on the open market. This monthly saving can then be used towards a deposit for buying a home.*

Capstone Green is the first Rent to Buy development in the South from leading housing provider L&Q, which has seen immense demand for similar Government backed-schemes, like London Living Rent.

Andrea Palmer, Head of Intermediate Rent at L&Q comments: “It’s widely documented that rents in London have increased significantly, but it’s also something that’s having a huge impact outside the capital too.

“Bringing Rent to Buy to Kent will have a huge impact on those who currently want to, but can’t afford to, buy in their local area – we’re delighted to be able to offer both houses and apartments to this popular commuter town.”

Surrounded by the natural beauty of Capstone Farm Country Park and close to the River Medway, Capstone Green presents an ideal location for individuals and families looking for peacefulness within a thriving community. With excellent schools, nurseries, and leisure facilities nearby, as well as Chatham Station providing easy access to London Victoria in just 46 minutes, the development offers the convenience of city connections alongside tranquil countryside.

With homes featuring modern interiors, including copper-handled cabinets and integrated kitchen appliances, Capstone Green offers an exceptional standard of living at an affordable price. Select homes also include fruit trees planted in their gardens, enhancing the biodiversity of the development and creating a sense of community.

Located on the edge of Rochester’s historic Roman Road, Capstone Green provides easy access to both London and the Kent coast, with excellent transport links via the M2 and nearby rail services. The development is ideally situated for weekend getaways to the West Country or quick trips abroad, with the Channel Tunnel, Dover ferry terminal, and Gatwick Airport all within reach.

Residents can enjoy the rich history of the nearby Chatham Dockyards, explore local shopping at the Pentagon Centre, or visit the scenic Darland Banks. With so much to offer, Capstone Green is not only a great place to live but also a perfect place to put down roots.

L&Q is excited to bring the Capstone Green development to market through the Rent to Buy scheme, offering more people the opportunity to move from renting to owning in one of Kent’s most desirable areas.

Monthly rental prices start from £975 PCM for a 2 bedroom apartment.

Minimum household incomes from £33,690 for a single application and £28,710 for a joint application. Please note minimum income requirements should be used as a guide and can vary depending on a household’s circumstances and financial commitments.
