London’s Most Affordable Sunday Lunch: The Rugby Tavern and Bistro Bleu Add French Flair to a Classic

On the hunt for London’s most affordable Sunday Lunch? Look no further than the traditional pub, The Rugby Tavern, and its intimate and chic restaurant, Bistro Bleu, who are serving up a délicieux French-inspired feast for less. Cosy up this winter and tuck into all the Sunday essentials with one course for £20, two courses for £25 or three for just £30.

Bringing an inimitable cross-Channel charm to the streets of Bloomsbury, the French inspired bistro, and the cordial British pub it’s sat atop, kick things off every Sunday from 12pm.

Begin with Gallic gumption, choosing between: chicken liver parfait, red onion compote, cornichon and toasted baguette; garlic escargot and oyster mushroom tartlet with parma ham; heirloom tomato and whipped goat’s cheese with basil dressing; or devilled whitebait with tartare sauce.

Then land firmly on English soil with sumptuous Sunday roasts of aged Scottish striploin beef, slow roasted pork belly, free range chicken, or roasted butternut, kale and mushroom wellington. Each main is served with crispy roast potatoes, maple roasted root vegetables, buttered greens, Yorkshire pudding, and rosemary and thyme gravy.

End on a sweet note, choosing between the rich dark chocolate brownie with bitter chocolate sauce and Purbeck vanilla ice cream; sticky toffee pudding with butterscotch sauce; caramelised lemon tart with black currant coulis and crème fraiche; or finish with the Bloomsbury cheese board with quince paste, baguette, grapes and walnuts.

From perfectly chilled, crisp bottles of Crémant, and fine wines to a wide selection of handcrafted cocktails and of course show stopping bottles of Champagne, Bistro Bleu and The Rugby Tavern have all bases covered when it comes to what boisson to enjoy with your meal.

In addition to the extensive wine list and tempting choices of continental negronis, spritzes and French Martinis, the downstairs pub also grants access to a wide range of beers, ales and ciders by bottle, keg and cask.

The search for the best and most affordable Sunday lunch in London is over. This hearty roast dinner will keep you warm all winter long, your only decision will be whether to enjoy it against a backdrop of Parisian, art  deco edge at Bistro Bleu or the charming, homely feel of The Rugby Tavern.
