London Footwear Innovator Scoops Best Businesswoman Award

Janan Leo, Founder and Managing Director of women’s footwear brand, Cocorose London, has won two prestigious national awards in the highly respected Best Businesswomen Awards 2024.

Janan, a mother of two from North London, won Gold for Best Customer Service and Silver for Most Inspiring Businesswoman.  She picked up her shiny new accolades at a glittering awards ceremony hosted at the Hilton Syon Park, London, on October 11.

The independent judging panel highlighted “Janan clearly places her customers at the heart of Cocorose London. There is acute attention to detail, not only to products, but to the entire experience of purchasing from Cocorose. This is consistently evident in customer feedback. This is an amazing company, striving to offer the very best of the best footwear allied to total customer satisfaction.”

Shortlisted for the Gala Awards evening were eight finalists for Best Customer Service and nine finalists for Most Inspiring Businesswoman, making Janan’s achievements with Cocorose London even more outstanding.

The Best Businesswomen Awards are designed to recognise the achievements of female entrepreneurs from a wide range of industries. All of them excel in their chosen fields and have demonstrated their impact in their entries, underscoring the significance of their achievements.

Debbie Gilbert, the organiser of The Best Businesswomen Awards, said, “This is the 10th year of these prestigious awards, and despite tough trading conditions businesses have faced over the past few years, these businesswomen have powered forwards. Our judging panel, all business experts, were impressed by the quality of the entrants. All our finalists are incredible examples of successful female entrepreneurs who have proved their success to our judges.”

The Gold and Silver award wins are another coup for Cocorose London, who has been making positive headlines and championing women’s footwear comfort since 2007, when it launched the foldable shoe. Delivering supreme footwear comfort is in the brand’s DNA and evident across its range of luxury ballet flats and trainers, considerately designed for work to weekend.

In 2023, Cocorose London set another benchmark in the footwear industry, launching plant-powered vegan trainers made from innovative cactus leather.  This ‘Kew’ range has proved hugely popular and allows women to extend eco principles to their footwear and elect to buy trainers that help the planet by encouraging carbon-absorbing cactus plantations.

Janan says, “I am delighted to win these awards, which recognise the hard work behind all Cocorose London does and rewards the continual innovations brought to the product range.

“The truth is, this business has been built not just by the Cocorose Team, but together with our customers. Since the day we started, we’ve been passionate about putting our Cocorosers first and building human relationships with them, rather than AI-driven ones. We shall continue to listen, pick up feedback and introduce innovations that will assist customers in the coming years.”

Back to the office for Janan will mean focusing on shoes for Christmas gifting, working on new designs and innovations for 2025, talking to wholesale customers overseas and supporting other businesswomen.  When not doing that, she will be dropping the children at school and nursery and tackling all the other things that being a mum of two young children entails.
