London attraction reveals new features to celebrate fifth anniversary

London company Layered Reality has unveiled new features for its popular multi-sensory experience, Jeff Wayne’s The War of The Worlds: The Immersive Experience, to celebrate its fifth anniversary – making it the UK’s longest running immersive experience.

The updates include fresh remixes in The Spirit of Man Bar to entertain visitors, and new sounds and remixes from Jeff Wayne’s Musical Version throughout the experience, including a new sound system in the Brave New World domes for all-encompassing sound.

A newly created Royal Engineer scene with a pre-recorded phone call, new script, props and audience interaction has also been added to the show, to help deliver the story in a different and even more interactive way.

Andrew McGuinness, CEO of Layered Reality, said: “We’re really excited to be celebrating our fifth anniversary, and to be heading into our sixth year with an updated production that pushes the levers of creativity even further.

“Jeff Wayne’s The War of The Worlds: The Immersive Experience is both thrilling and exciting, and combines the latest digital technology with live theatre and real physical sensations to create a unique, immersive experience that’s truly memorable.”

Jeff Wayne, Composer and Producer, added: “Since we opened our doors in 2019, we’ve welcomed over 200,000 guests on an extraordinary adventure through Victorian England, complete with Martian invaders, and the gripping HG Wells storyline brought to life by live actors and cutting-edge technology, all tied together with my musical score.

“Now, with this new enhanced version for the fifth anniversary, guests will feel even more immersed in the music and story. As HG Wells opens his trail-blazing story – ‘No one would have believed…’.”

The experience transports visitors back to 1898 to experience escaping a Martian-occupied Victorian England in an action-packed journey through the classic tale of HG Wells’ The War of The Worlds, all set to Jeff Wayne’s iconic score.

The 1 hour 50 minute experience sees guests follow The Journalist, George Herbert and his fiancée, Carrie in their mission to survive and chronicle the 1898 Martian invasion.

Along the way, guests hear from holographic figures, sneak into a deserted Victorian house, journey through the trenches to London, slide down the claw of a Martian Handling Machine, fly to Mars in a hot air balloon and visit The Red Weed Bar, which is exclusive to ticket holders.
