Start the year with new non-alc cocktails and delicious vegan specials

2024 is upon us, and whether you’re cutting back on alcohol or planning to be plant-based this January, Wahaca has something to satisfy every resolution. With a brand new vegan special and set menu as well as some spirited, but spirit-free, additions to the cocktail menu, visitors to the Mexican-inspired restaurant group’s locations across the UK are all set to enjoy a virtuous but delicious start to the year.

Those embarking on Veganuary – or indeed anyone that’s looking for some plant-based tastiness – can get stuck into the new Seasonal Vegetable Tetela (£6.50)*. A large, crisp tortilla parcel,  generously filled with roasted vegetables and black beans and topped with avocado salsa and vegan cashew crema, makes for a wonderfully warming winter dish, proving that street food doesn’t need meat to be moreish.

And the vegan choices at Wahaca certainly don’t stop there. Landing right in time for Veganuary 2024, the new Vegan Set Menu (serves 2: £22.50 per person, £45 in total) kicks off with the new Smoky Sonoran Hummus and homemade tortilla chips and continues with Ancho Mushroom Tacos, Plantain Tacos, Black Bean & Vegan Cheese Quesadillas, Plant-Based Chicken & Avocado Tacos, Zesty Bean Tostadas and a scrumptious side of Seasonal Greens – grilled broccoli and winter kale in a mojo de ajo and lime dressing. A filling, flavoursome feast that’s minus the meat and dairy but certainly doesn’t compromise on taste.

Dry January needn’t mean depriving yourself of a tasty cocktail at Wahaca – with two tasty new booze-free additions to the drinks menu. The Blackberry Sour (£5.50) is shaken with aquafaba, basil, apple cider vinegar, avocado leaf and rosemary for a serve that’s luxuriously smooth with a satisfying sharpness. The perfect choice for those craving the taste and complexity of a traditional cocktail but without a drop of alcohol. And new and improved for 2024, the Non-Alc Margarita (£6.50) packs the perfect punch to cut through even the coldest of months, with Pentire botanical non-alcoholic spirit mixed with lime, agave and jalapeño.

To raise a glass to the year ahead, visitors to Wahaca throughout January can try the Blackberry Sour on the house** by redeeming a voucher from wahaca.co.uk/try-our-cocktails-on-us/ – with those that don’t want to go alcohol-free getting the choice from a selection of boozier options including Basil Mezcalita, Passion Fruit Vanilla Martini, Pineapple Mezcal Sour and Picante Margarita. Free cheers to 2024!

    * Non-vegan option also available with added feta cheese

**One street food dish must be purchased to redeem. Full T&Cs at wahaca.co.uk
