FORECASTERS are predicting that January 2024 will be another strong year for the growth of all things plant-based, kicking off with Veganuary – which last year saw 700,000 people take part in the challenge to adopt veganism for the first month of the year.

Indegno, Brick Lane’s latest fast-casual Italian restaurant serving fried tortellini, cappellacci and its signature fried, folded and filled golden dough – the crescentina – is keen to ensure that those looking for Italian street food don’t have to go without this January.

The award-winning Bologna-born brand has launched its new Veganuary Special, available from 2 January to 31 January as a limited edition snack for only £8.99, created in partnership with an innovative local supplier.

The latest crescentina comes filled with pumpkin cream, sundried tomatoes, and the delicious Clapton Chive, a vegan cheese prepared by La Fauxmagerie, the UK’s first plant-based cheesemonger based in Shoreditch.

Andrea Liotta, co-founder of Indegno, said: “We are all about inclusivity at Indegno – we seek to provide delicious food for everyone who walks through our doors, and we are proud to offer a bespoke crescentina this Veganuary to broaden our range for plant-based foodies in London.”

Having recently won its second award after being placed in 50 Top Italy’s ‘Top Ten Italian Street Food’ category, those looking for authenticity, flavour and friendliness are in for a treat that’s gained a coveted seal of approval this Veganuary.

Other vegan options include The Bentivoglio, a deliciously flavoursome crescentina filled with plant-based pulled pork from Planted. and traditional friggione (slow cooked onions and tomatoes).

Andrea continued: “We have received such positive feedback on The Bentivoglio in the UK, as well as demand for even more vegan treats from Bologna – our local town in northern Italy. So, we felt it was a logical next step to forge another local partnership, putting a British stamp on our crescentina with the brilliant team at La Fauxmargerie. We really hope our customers enjoy the Veganuary Special, and that we can continue to innovate our menu well into 2024!”

To indulge in Italy this Veganuary, head to its new restaurant at 104 Brick Lane, Shoreditch, E1 6RL before 31 January to try the latest innovation.

Indegno is open 12:00am-11:00pm Sunday to Friday and 12:00am-11:30pm Friday to Saturday.
