Autumn in the Cotswolds is a celebration of nature’s bounty, with harvest time yielding delicious produce for the local Farmers’ Markets, pubs and eateries.  At this quieter time of year, the beautiful walking trails and arboretums come into their own, displaying blazing colours against a backdrop of rolling hills and golden stone villages.

StayCotswold has over 200 holiday homes dotted across the region, ranging from luxury properties with relaxing hot tubs and games rooms to cosy cottages and quaint shepherd’s huts.  Over 100 are dog-friendly too!  StayCotswold – Autumn Breaks

We’ve rounded up a selection of October short–break savings and ideas for things to do on a visit to this vast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, which spans 800 square miles and five counties.

    Places to visit:

Farmers’ Markets – Fill your basket with local cheese, bread, meat, pies, fruit and veg and tempting pastries at Chipping Norton.  Stroud, Cirencester and Moreton in Marsh also have some of the best in the country

The Pumpkin Patch at Cotswold Farm Park is open to visitors throughout October.  You can also discover the rare breeds on show throughout the year – from Cotswolds Sheep to Suffolk Punches.

Arboretums – See treescapes in dazzling autumn colours on a visit to the arboretums at Westonbirt and Batsford.  At their finest from October to mid-November, walk through crunchy fallen leaves before heading back to cosy up at your holiday home.

Cotswold Distillery – One of the country’s few distilleries producing both English whisky and gin.  Join a masterclass on the process and enjoy a sip after the tour –StayCotswold guests receive a 10% VIP discount on spirits.

    October Late Offers:

    The Great Tew Country Estate

Unspoilt with idyllic views, established mature trees, a cosy pub and a shooting school; the estate is in walking distance of Hook Norton Brewery, where you can learn about the brewing process and make your own beer.  Great Tew estate is also within short walking distance of exclusive private members’ club, Soho Farmhouse – if you’re lucky enough to be a member.  Nearby Chipping Norton has antique shops, book shops, a theatre and a weekly farmers’ market – a tradition since the 13th century!
