Hackney Wick FC Partners with North East London Cancer Alliance to Launch New Jersey

The collaboration aims to raise awareness of prostate cancer within the local community through its latest campaign

Hackney Wick FC, a well-established semi-professional football club in East London, known for its history of partnerships with global brands like Nike and Netflix, proudly announces the launch of its new football jersey in collaboration with the North East London Cancer Alliance.

This partnership is dedicated to raising awareness of prostate cancer, the most common cancer affecting men in the UK while promoting the message of inclusivity and self-acceptance among youth.

The new jersey, prominently displaying the ‘It’s Not A Game’ logo, symbolises a commitment to supporting local cancer patients and addressing some disparities in cancer screening participation.

Prostate cancer accounted for 26% of cancers diagnosed in men in 2017. Over the last 30 years, the incidence of prostate cancer has steadily increased and is projected to rise by an additional 12% by 2035. It is most prevalent among Black men, followed by white men, making this partnership especially significant for the club’s diverse community.

Bobby Kasanga, Founder of Hackney Wick FC commented: “As a football club deeply rooted in our local community, we are incredibly proud to launch this new jersey in partnership with the North East London Cancer Alliance. Prostate cancer is a pressing issue that affects so many, particularly in our community, and we’re committed to encouraging men to get regular check-ups while supporting those impacted by the disease.”

Obi Onyiah, Programme Manager for Prevention Awareness and Screening at North East London Cancer Alliance, said: “Sport has a unique opportunity to bring communities together and we must not forget about the massive visibility and impact grassroots football has. At North East London Cancer Alliance, we are passionate about bringing awareness to important screening and cancer campaigns to the local community. We hope this collaboration will not only bring more awareness to young people, but also act as a subtle reminder to parents and spectators of these games across north east London.”

The jersey also features BE, the new sponsor for Hackney Wick FC, a sports brand founded by Bobby Kasanga. BE’s mission aligns closely with the club’s commitment to inspiring positive change and supporting community youth through sport.

Support the fight against prostate cancer and show your community spirit by ordering the new jersey at the website here.
