Unlock the secret of the stripes

In a story of homegrown ingenuity, RHEON LABS®, has transformed a NASA concept into a breakthrough British technology. Developed over 15 years at Imperial College London, RHEONâ„¢ is an energy absorbing super-polymer that promises to redefine athletic performance all through a series of eye-catching stripes across the athletes’ apparel.

Like running on wet sand, the material hardens on impact, then softens ensuring muscles are positioned for maximum efficiency and directing more energy into performance.

The technology has already made waves in the athletic world, having been worn by the best athletes to break the toughest records:

  • Emmanuel Wanyoni: New men’s world record in the one-mile race (April 2024)
  • Alexander Munyao: Winner of the 2024 London Marathon
  • Tamirat Tola: Winner of the 2023 NYC Marathon, breaking a 12-year-old record

Simon Huntsman, Commercial Director and Head of Reactivewear at RHEON Labs®:  “In a world of elite sport, milliseconds and millimetres can be the difference between the podium and last place. Our technology combines years of biomechanical research with complex chemistry in a way that will unlock a new world of athlete potential and shape a new era of performance.

As athletes push their limits in Paris, our technology will be there, invisibly powering every stride”

The RHEON™ journey: From lab to Olympic stage

adidas and RHEON LABS® first joined forces to design and unveil apparel with reactive support by launching TechFit Control collection in March 2023.

In September 2023, adidas launched its second apparel collection featuring RHEON â„¢ technology from RHEON LABS® –the Adizero Control running collection.

In April 2024, adidas launched its TechFit Control Bra engineered RHEON LABS® and featuring the RHEON ™ reactive super polymer. Athletes from Great Britain, France and Ethiopia will be wearing adidas product featuring RHEON™ technology at the Paris Games.

As Team GB prepares to showcase this British innovation on the world stage, RHEON LABS®, offers a compelling story of science, sport, and the relentless pursuit of excellence. Don’t miss this opportunity to delve into the technology that could shape the future of Olympic performance.
