PICTURE this: towering carrots reaching 16 feet tall, a mural stretching 14 metres wide, and a majestic rabbit sculpture standing more than three metres high. For the month of June, this vision will become a reality as London’s iconic Warren Street undergoes a magical makeover.

The transformation is part of a unique initiative, spearheaded by architecture practice Able Partners and Elliott Wood with support from several major partners including The Fitzrovia Partnership, Camden Council and Transport for London (TfL). Together, they will transform Warren Street into a ‘rabbit wonderland’, heralding the launch of the London Festival of Architecture with a grand street party on Thursday 6 June.

Renamed ‘Rabbit’ Warren Street for the occasion, the project will bring an explosion of colour and fun to the area to captivate the local community and visitors. The bold installation likens Fitzrovia to a rabbit warren, with exciting hidden networks to be discovered.

To celebrate the opening of the installation – which will be in place until the end of June – a free street party has been planned to bring together the whole community. Kicking off at 4:30pm, the evening will be a festival-like atmosphere where visitors can learn about the history of Warren Street, discover the top places to eat and drink, and enjoy live music and interactive installations.

A road closure will be in effect for the first week of the installation, allowing the public to fully enjoy the area with benches, tables, and landscaping installed. The bold design will promote the use of less polluted pathways, and act as the perfect space for Londoners to socialise and meet their creative community.

Bill Webb, co-founder of Able Partners, said: “Collaborating with the local creative industry on this boundary-pushing project has been terrific and we’re looking forward to seeing people’s reactions to the installation.

“It’s set to be a night to remember, and we eagerly anticipate welcoming everyone to the street party and infusing Warren Street with a touch of magic as we celebrate both its history and its future. We try to inspire the architecture industry with the unexpected and innovate with stakeholders, to ultimately deliver the best outcomes for our communities.
“This partnership has been particularly exciting, as Fitzrovia is our home and has special significance for us.”
