Enter Gallery announces an exciting new exhibition celebrating 20 years of collaboration with renowned contemporary artist, Dan Baldwin. Titled Dan Baldwin X Enter Gallery: 20 Years, the show opens on December 5th and offers a unique opportunity to experience an extensive collection of Baldwin’s work, focusing on his works on paper.
The exhibition will feature 10 unique 1/1 original artworks, each defined by Baldwin’s distinctive combination of hand-painted backgrounds with black outlined compositions. Fans and collectors can also look forward to three new colourways of the artist’s limited-edition print, The Road Less Travelled, alongside the original artwork that premiered at Enter Gallery’s The Mix exhibition earlier this year.
A notable addition to the collection will be a selection of smaller original studies, offering collectors the opportunity to own an original Dan Baldwin piece at a more accessible price point, underscoring Enter Gallery’s commitment to making art for all.
This exhibition is a visual celebration of Baldwin’s signature themes and motifs, including nature-inspired imagery such as birds, butterflies, and flowers juxtaposed with darker, more sinister elements. His work expertly balances the light and dark, life and death – showcasing contrasts that are deeply rooted in his artistic narrative.
Dan Baldwin shares, “I began visiting Brighton when I was 14 and after graduating in 1996 I moved to Brighton, got my studio and began my practice. I started to exhibit in the Brighton Fringe Festival and in 2004 I began producing prints and exploring limited editions. The first person I showed them to was Lawrence Alkin. This began our 20 year journey – Lawrence has always been there throughout my journey as a solid good guy, and an astute steady supporter of my works.Â
For the show I have produced a new original artwork, ‘The Mind Echoes of Past Experiences’ which is being recreated onto unique hand painted backgrounds, in a very low set of 10, with silkscreen on hand made watercolour paper. No two are the same, reflecting my love of colour and composition and the significance of printmaking.”
Ahead of the exhibition, Dan Baldwin will join Lawrence Alkin, Founder of Enter Gallery, in a special conversation at Brighton Beach House on November 20th. The artist and gallerist will discuss Baldwin’s impressive two-decade career, his artistic process, and the themes that define his work, offering a deeper insight into the show.
This exhibition offers both long-time admirers of Baldwin’s work and new audiences the chance to engage with his evolving artistic narrative, bringing together key moments from his career.
