The award-winning Tequila joins forces with the cult East London sandwich shop for a flavour-first fiesta – with a free El Rayo Tequila Tonic can with every sandwich order.

To toast National Tequila Day on Thursday 24th July, El Rayo – the award-winning modern Tequila brand – is teaming up with cult Hackney sandwich shop Rogue Sarnies for the store’s first-ever collaboration. On the menu is a one-day-only, Mexican-inspired sandwich, called The El Rayo ‘TBC’, it features crispy pressed pork belly glazed in smoky salsa roja, refried pork fat pinto beans, melted mozzarella, crunchy white cabbage, guaca salsa, BBQ pineapple habanero hot sauce, and fresh pico de gallo and a free can of El Rayo’s newly launched Tequila Tonic with every order.

    El Rayo

El Rayo’s Tequila Tonic – a ready-to-drink take on their signature long serve – is brand new for this year’s National Tequila Day celebrations. Crafted with smooth Plata Tequila, crisp tonic and a hint of grapefruit, the 250ml can (7% ABV, RRP £3.50) is a clean, refreshing twist on the classic G&T – with a vibrant, modern Mexico-inspired design to match.

Rogue Sarnies is the latest venture from chefs Freddie Sheen and Zac Whittle. Since opening in summer 2023, Rogue Sarnies has gained a cult following for its woodfired sarnies, made with top-quality British and European ingredients and creative sandwich combinations.

Known for rewriting the rules of Tequila, El Rayo has always championed bold flavour and creativity – and so has Rogue Sarnies. The sandwich shop (263 Poyser St, London E2 9RF) has built a loyal east London following thanks to its wood-fired bread, seasonal fillings and no-fuss, flavour-first approach.

For one day only, the two brands are coming together for a special menu takeover packed with summer energy. Here’s how the day will unfold:

    Lunch service (12-4pm)

Rogue Sarnies’ full menu will be available alongside the limited-edition The El Rayo ‘TBC’ sandwich – think slow-cooked pork carnitas served with house-made salsas and sauces inside their signature wood-fired bread. Every sandwich, including the collab special, comes with a free can of El Rayo Tequila Tonic.

    Evening event (5-10pm)

Rogue Sarnies opens beyond its usual hours for a laid-back evening hangout. The El Rayo ‘TBC’ will be the only sandwich on the menu, joined by tortilla chips, house dips and a full drinks list. Again, every sandwich comes with a free can of El Rayo Tequila Tonic.

    The El Rayo ‘TBC’:

Crispy pressed pork belly glazed in smoky salsa roja, refried pork fat pinto beans, melted mozzarella, crunchy white cabbage, guaca salsa, BBQ pineapple habanero hot sauce, and fresh pico de gallo.

Tom Bishop, El Rayo’s co-founder, said: “We’ve always known Tequila is better served long, and our Tequila Tonic makes enjoying this even easier – same great Tequila, same modern Mexico energy, just easier to crack open. Our new collaboration embraces that spirit: Rogue Sarnies have the same obsession with flavour, quality and creativity as we do, and this limited-edition sandwich is all about having fun with all of these. Chilled can of Tequila Tonic in one hand, Mexican-inspired sandwich in the other – it’s the perfect National Tequila Day pairing.”

Alongside the new RTD, El Rayo’s two Tequilas – El Rayo Plata (RRP £34/70cl) and El Rayo Reposado (RRP £38/70cl) – remain at the heart of the brand’s range.

El Rayo’s new Tequila Tonic RTD is available on elrayotequila.com and Amazon (£39 for a case of 12), and on Zapp (£3.50 a can). Stock up ahead of 24th July to raise a toast to Tequila, your way.

The El Rayo x Rogue Sarnies collab event takes place at Rogue Sarnies, 263 Poyser St, London E2 9RF, on Thursday 24th July 2025 from 12-10pm.
