‘Come on Enger’Loo’nd’ – England fans fear Three Lions won’t keep a ‘clean sheet’

As England battles through Euro 2024 with mixed results, the nation’s collective sentiment is becoming obvious through grocery orders – as nerves are getting the better of some viewers.

New data from instant grocery delivery service Gopuff, shows how fans are coping with their frustrations and the emotional rollercoaster of supporting their team, from energy drinks to stay awake through uneventful second halves, to extra loo roll to cope with the stress.

Here’s a closer look at what fans have been ordering to manage the pressure:

    1. Magnum Tonic Wine: A Comforting Companion Despite England’s underwhelming performance, Magnum Tonic Wine has consistently been the most ordered item following all their games. This pattern suggests that fans are turning to this familiar beverage for comfort and perhaps a bit of escapism, reflecting a need to find solace amidst the team’s struggles.

    2. Toilet Paper Orders Spike: A Sign of Anxiety In a trend that’s both amusing and telling, orders for toilet paper have surged during England’s matches. It appears that fans are quite literally “cacking it” as they watch, indicating high levels of stress and anxiety. This spike could be a physical manifestation of the tense atmosphere and nail-biting moments fans endure.

    3. Red Bull for Late-Night Drama with Red Bull orders increasing during the latter parts of the second halves, it’s clear that fans are struggling to stay awake and alert, especially for the later kick-off times of 8 pm. This trend suggests that the games are dragging on and perhaps not delivering the excitement expected, leading fans to seek an energy boost to stay engaged until the final whistle.

    4. Levi Roots Caribbean Crush: A Sweet Escape Levi Roots Caribbean Crush has become the preferred soft drink for watching the games. Its vibrant and exotic flavours might be providing a much-needed distraction and a touch of joy, offering a small but sweet escape from the frustration of England’s performance on the pitch.

    5. The Party is (Almost) Over – Between the England game on Tuesday 25th June and Sunday 30th of June it seems fans lost the party spirit. During the first game, there were high volumes of orders of alcohol, ice cubes, ice creams and energy drinks to keep the air of celebration. In contract, during the later game, that trend swiftly disappeared and was instead replaced with high orders of baby wipes and cider.

These consumer behaviours paint a vivid picture of a fanbase that is passionate yet frustrated, searching for comfort and energy as they navigate the emotional highs and lows of the tournament.

Gopuff is offering daily deals at unbeatable prices for the Euros 2024. With savings on your favourite snacks, drinks, and tipples with up to 97% off, you can take advantage of these huge discounts which are available throughout the tournament until 14 July 2024.

You can visit the website at Gopuff.com or download the app to take advantage of these deals. To give you a flavour of what’s available, for alcoholic beverages, enjoy Japanese master brewers Asahi Super Dry, 10 x 330ml for just £10 (RRP £15), premium Greasy Fingers Luscious Red wine or Big Buttery Chardonnay for just £7.50 each, (RRP £11.50).
