18 teams went head-to-head in Fortune Hill’s noughties-themed MASSIVE Marketing Quiz, swapping screens for pens and paper for an evening of friendly competition, nostalgia and fundraising.
The annual Quiz brought together 180 marketing leaders at Snapchat HQ in London last Thursday, raising nearly £300,000 for The Marketing Academy Foundation, which drives social mobility by helping young people from low-income backgrounds access careers in marketing, and Under One Sky, which supports people experiencing homelessness across the UK.
The intentionally analogue format gave guests a chance to step away from technology and enjoy a night of noughties nostalgia, with the evening culminating in the whole room singing along to S Club 7’s Reach.
With nearly £300,000 raised so far this year, the event has taken Fortune Hill’s total charitable fundraising beyond £750,000. With the auction still open and further prizes being added over the coming weeks, the final figure is expected to rise further.
Industry support drives charitable total past £750,000
Joel Barnett, Founder & Chief Executive at Fortune Hill, said: “Over the course of the night we raised nearly £300,000, and we haven’t finished yet. There really is nothing quite like the MASSIVE Marketing Quiz. It’s extraordinary what happens when people unite to support amazing causes, especially when you get the whole room singing S Club 7’s Reach at the top of their lungs.
“But this event is about so much more than a marketing-themed pub quiz and a singalong. There is a genuine sense of togetherness, belonging, generosity, kindness and a huge dollop of good-humoured competition. The incredible spirit of the CMO community and the generosity of our sponsors will make a real difference to a lot of people.
“Most importantly, we’ll have helped The Marketing Academy Foundation drive social mobility by opening up career opportunities to young people from low-income backgrounds, alongside supporting Under One Sky in its work with people experiencing homelessness. A massive thank you to our amazing sponsors; we are all beyond grateful for your generous support."
John Hunter, Director at Fortune Hill, said: “As an organisation that is deeply embedded in the marketing community, we believe that it is our responsibility to leverage our network to make a positive difference. That’s what makes this event so important to us.”
The event was supported by 20 sponsors from across the marketing community, including Sky Media, TubeScience, Adobe, Croud, dentsu, Havas Media Network, mediasense, Omnicom Media, Stagwell, TUG Agency, Ogilvy, WPP Media, Thinkbox, MSQ, Mail Metro Media and PrettyGreen.
The evening was hosted by Sherilyn Shackell and Jon Evans, with Craig Inglis, Tina Fegent, Victoria Fox and Richard Robinson also playing a key role in the fundraising effort.
The online auction remains open, with a range of prizes and experiences available to bid on and further lots being added over the next two weeks. All proceeds will go towards the two charity partners.
