Hart Shoreditch Unveils Programme Line-Up for London Design Festival 2026 with Mali Mowcka

Hart Shoreditch has unveiled its programme of events and creative workshops for the 2026 London Design Festival taking place 12th-20th September 2026.

Building on a previous partnership with contemporary urban artist Mali Mowcka, Mowcka’s new installation ‘Sanctum of Renewal’, will be on display throughout the festival at Hart Shoreditch. To further celebrate this partnership, the hotel will host a curated series of immersive experiences celebrating creativity, design and artistic expression.

Available to both hotel guests and local visitors, these sessions include a Wooden Collage Workshop on 12th September, a panel talk discussion exploring the relationship between artistic expression and the way we experience places on 15th September, a sculpture workshop on 17th September and lastly, a street art workshop on 19th September. All proceeds will go to Saira Hospitality, a non-profit transforming the way hotels connect with local communities through hospitality training programmes.

Artist Walk & Wooden Collage & Assemblage Workshop – 12th September, 12pm

Hotel guests and visitors alike will be invited to discover the beauty of transformation in a hands-on creative workshop inspired by ‘Yūgen’, the Japanese philosophy that underpins ‘Sanctum of Renewal’. Celebrating the subtle and mysterious beauty that exists beyond what is immediately visible, the workshop invites participants to create a unique collage and assemble artwork using a curated selection of reclaimed wood. Each attendee will be guided through the creative process by Mowcka, exploring composition, texture and storytelling while reflecting on themes of renewal, contemplation and our connection to the natural world. Participants will then bring their creations to life with paint and mixed-media techniques, transforming recycled materials into a one-of-a-kind sculptural artwork to take home.

Art, Space & Transformation: Panel Talk – 15th September, 3pm

Hosted in Hart Shoreditch’s BYRD Lounge, this inspiring panel discussion invites guests to explore how artistic expression, from Shoreditch’s vibrant street art scene and restaurant design to immersive installations, shapes the way we experience places, connect with ourselves and engage with the world around us. Bringing together the artist behind ‘Sanctum of Renewal’, Mali Mowcka; Greg Fruchtenicht from Saira Hospitality, a non-profit organisation transforming the way hotels connect with local communities; Hart Shoreditch General Manager, Lina Zakzeckyte; and Dave Stuart from Shoreditch Street Art Tours, the panel will offer a range of perspectives on the power of creativity. Through an engaging conversation on art and design, the discussion will explore how creative spaces can inspire reflection, influence the way we interact with our surroundings and reveal new perspectives in everyday environments.

Material Narratives: Sculpting Wearable Forms – 17th September, 7pm

Guests are also invited to join this hands-on workshop, suitable for all experience levels, to create sculptural artwork while exploring sustainable making techniques. Working with natural fibres, textiles and found materials, participants will be encouraged to experiment with texture, structure and form, allowing the materials to inspire the creative process rather than following a fixed design. Led by Ecuadorian-born, London-based designer and artist Maria Cuji, the guided session offers guests the opportunity to discover new techniques and leave with a unique sculptural piece of their own.

Paste Up Street Art Workshop 19th September, 12pm

Wrapping up the week, will be an immersive workshop inspired by ‘Sanctum of Renewal’ and the Japanese philosophy of ‘Yūgen'. Combining creativity, urban exploration and storytelling, this hands-on experience invites participants to design, create and install their own paste-up artwork while exploring themes of transformation, impermanence and the hidden beauty found in everyday life. Along the way, guests will discover the history and techniques behind paste-up street art, learning how artworks are developed and prepared for public spaces while exploring the powerful relationship between urban art, place and visual storytelling.
