"I finally have the confidence I've dreamed of after losing more than four stone"

Naomi Hyland, 34 - I work in sales and customer service. Weight has always been something I've struggled with. It wasn't caused by pregnancy or illness - I simply never restricted myself and, over the years, became far too comfortable eating whatever I wanted.

When I was at university in my early twenties, all the nights out and careless eating pushed my weight up to around 15 stone 7lbs, and although I constantly tried to lose weight, nothing ever seemed to stick.

I honestly tried everything. I'd been to Slimming World, counted calories, done juice diets, paid for weight loss supplements, and even hired an online fitness coach who created meal plans and exercise programmes for me. Calorie counting worked to a point, but I always seemed to stall.

I'd never actually seen my GP about my weight, but I knew something had to change. As soon as I started hearing about GLP-1 medications and researched them properly, I knew I had to give them a go.

I started Mounjaro on 8th August 2024 weighing 14 stone 10.4lbs. The results have completely changed my life.

At my lowest, I lost 5 stone 10lbs, and as of 24th June 2026 I weigh 10 stone 3lbs, meaning my current weight loss is 4 stone 7lbs.

I stopped taking Mounjaro in November 2025 before restarting in February 2026. I'd still love to lose another stone, but equally, I'd be happy maintaining where I am now because I already feel like a completely different person.

Before losing weight, my confidence was non-existent. Finding clothes was miserable. Whenever I did find something that fitted, I'd spend the entire time pulling at it because I hated anything clinging to my body. I avoided looking at myself in the mirror and never truly felt comfortable.

Sadly, people weren't always kind either. One comment has stayed with me ever since. A colleague was reading the side effects on some new medication they'd been prescribed, and one of the warnings mentioned weight loss. They turned to me and said maybe I should try taking them. I was completely stunned and didn't even know how to respond.

Comments like that really affect you. Thankfully, everything feels different now. Shopping has become something I genuinely enjoy because I finally have the body I've always dreamed of. I've bought clothes I'd never have dared wear before, including a figure-hugging dress for my friend's wedding.

I've also discovered a love of walking. My health and fitness have improved so much that I regularly go on long walks with my dog, which has done wonders for my mental wellbeing. I honestly feel like I've been given a whole new life.

I've always been bigger, so there were so many experiences I'd never even considered before. Swimming is one of them. Before losing weight, I would never have worn a swimsuit in public, but now I'd happily jump into a pool without worrying what anyone else thinks.

The biggest downside of taking Mounjaro for me was the nausea.

It usually started around 30 minutes to an hour after my injection, and although it thankfully never lasted too long, it was definitely unpleasant. About halfway through my journey, I discovered Sea-Band on Instagram (@seabandnausearelief).

I knew I had to give them a try because of the nausea I'd been experiencing. The difference was almost instant. Compared with other anti-nausea products I'd tried, the speed at which they worked really stood out. I found myself focusing on the pressure points on my wrists, which actually distracted me from the feeling of nausea itself.

I'd usually wear my Sea-Bands (amazon.co.uk) for a couple of hours, although they're so comfortable that I'd often forget I still had them on. They gave me the confidence to carry on with my GLP-1 journey.

The nausea never made me think about stopping Mounjaro because I knew I had something that helped me manage it. In fact, I'm almost hoping people ask me what the wristbands are so I can tell them all about them.

Throughout my journey, I've also shared everything on Instagram at @caloriemeals_withnaomi. Watching other people's weight loss journeys inspired me to begin my own, so I wanted to create a page that would hold me accountable while hopefully encouraging others too.

It's been amazing connecting with people who are also taking Mounjaro, sharing experiences, celebrating milestones and reminding each other that we're not doing this alone. Looking back now, I barely recognise the person I used to be. For the first time in my life, I feel confident, healthy and excited about the future.
