Newly revealed artist's impressions showcase an illuminated light trail, skating rink and festive attractions
Families, couples and friends can enjoy a magical Christmas day out within easy reach of London
The first images of a magical new Christmas experience have been revealed, offering a sneak peek at how the historic Luton Hoo Estate will be transformed into a spectacular festive destination this winter.
Opening on 4 December 2026, Christmas at Luton Hoo Estate will invite visitors to 'unlock Christmas' across 15 acres of beautiful historic grounds, with dazzling light installations, ice skating, Santa's grotto, live entertainment and festive food and drink.
Located between Harpenden and Luton, within easy reach of London, the brand-new attraction promises a memorable festive outing for families, couples and groups of friends.
Step Into a Magical Christmas Wonderland
At the heart of the experience is a spectacular one-mile Light Trail winding through the Estate's historic Walled Garden.
As darkness falls, visitors will discover a magical world of glowing light tunnels, enchanting botanical projections and atmospheric soundscapes, transforming the gardens into an illuminated winter wonderland.
The Walled Garden will also host a sparkling Skating Rink, where visitors can glide across the ice surrounded by festive lights. Each 45-minute session includes skate hire, making it the perfect addition to a Christmas day out.
Meet Father Christmas and His Elves
For little ones, Father Christmas's Grotto will offer a special festive adventure, with Santa's elves recruiting young visitors for an interactive Christmas mission.
The experience begins with a 15-minute group performance before children enjoy a personal meeting with Father Christmas and receive a special souvenir gift.
Visitors can also enjoy seasonal food and drink, alongside live festive entertainment and performances on a central stage in the run-up to Christmas Eve.
For an extra-special celebration, VIP packages will be available for families and groups, offering welcome drinks, food vouchers, souvenir gifts, a cosy guest area and additional skating time.
The event will also feature dedicated Starlight Sessions for guests with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and their families, offering a calmer experience with reduced capacity and quieter audio.
Selected Christmas Tails sessions will welcome four-legged family members too, so even dogs can join in the festive fun.
Edward Phillips, Chief Executive of Luton Hoo Estate, said: "The Estate provides a unique setting and we are looking forward to welcoming families, friends and groups to discover it in a completely different way and 'unlock Christmas' here this festive season.
"Christmas at Luton Hoo Estate will bring together the character and history of the grounds with light, entertainment and festive experiences, and we are incredibly excited to see the Estate transformed for Christmas."
