Jacksons Fencing Launches UK's First LPS 1673 Certified Timber Fencing Range

Jacksons Fencing announces the launch of the UK’s first LPS 1673 certified fencing, specifically designed to provide protection against violent, fast moving attacks, where having even an extra 30 seconds to act could make all the difference.

Specifically designed for the high-end residential market, this range has been manufactured to provide high levels of security without compromising on effectiveness or aesthetics.

Aimed at the luxury property market, this ingenious solution was developed in response to calls from high-net worth individuals looking for increased security, combined with the signature look and feel of a Jacksons fence.

This fencing gives residents time. If an attacker targets the perimeter, that time allows the people inside to escape or reach a safe room. Every product in the range provides at least a 30 second delay, and the Jakoustic® provides 60 seconds. That makes a window of 30 to 60 seconds, from the first blow of a blunt or sharp instrument to a breakthrough. Rigorous testing and correct installation is what makes these results reliable.

While these delays might appear short, in real-life security scenarios they provide critical stalling time, enabling residents and occupants to move to a place of safety, to activate security measures, or to seek assistance.

Products within the portfolio include: Shadowline® A30E, Vertical Tongue and Groove A30E, Convex Tongue and Groove A30E, 12k Envirofence® A30E, and Jakoustic® A60E, with the latter two offering noise reduction in addition to security.

    Held to a higher standard

Jacksons achieving LPS 1673 certification should not be understated as it represents an important step forward in perimeter security terms. This is because LPS 1673 offers unprecedented third-party assurance to give homeowners and landlords real peace of mind when it comes to protecting their properties.

Moving beyond traditional security standards, the certification was developed by the Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB) in conjunction with organisations including the National Protective Security Authority (NPSA), National Counter Terrorism Security Office (NaCTSO), and other industry stakeholders. The design emerged in response to ongoing and evolving threats targeting people. These dangers include violent home invasions, orchestrated attacks, marauding attacks, armed robbery, and other determined attempts to gain entry through force.

In practice, LPS 1673 offers the closest thing possible to a security guarantee through its assessment of how effective products are at delaying violent forced entry. The certification process includes a rigorous testing regime, which saw Jacksons accredited products put through their paces. During these trials, individual panels had to withstand repeated and consistent impact from a variety of tools, weapons, and even heavy, non-offensive items (e.g. fire extinguishers) for the required delay period.

    Striking to behold

Most security fences available on the market make a trade-off when it comes to visual appeal, not so with Jacksons LPS 1673 certified range which maintain the brand’s signature natural timber look and feel.

Delivering both form and function, Jacksons' new range is ushering in a new era of security fences as protective and attractive features rather than essential, yet inconvenient, eyesores. This winning combination is achieved through premium materials and quality engineering, pioneered by Jacksons’ R&D team, which can withstand repeated heavy striking with category A tools for the specified delay time. Each panel has been tested and certified to ensure resistance before eventual compromise.

That’s not all, the range has also achieved Secured by Design Police Preferred Specification, giving homeowners and residents additional confidence that the products meet recognised police-backed security requirements.

Commenting on the launch, Cris Francis, Commercial Director at Jacksons Fencing says, “This represents a big moment for Jacksons Fencing as well as for homeowners, landlords and residents. By becoming the first company to bring LPS 1673 certified fencing to market, we’re helping consumers see that they can have the highest levels of security along with stunning good looks.”

“Combining British manufacturing, industry leading security expertise, and premium materials, the new range meets the increasing demand we’ve seen for discreet yet effective residential security that actually delivers beyond the marketing brochure. Once again, we’re leading the market with innovation that both protects and preserves peace of mind.”

Richard Flint, Technical and Commercial Lead for Physical Security, BRE commented on the achievement: “We are delighted that Jacksons have recognised the importance of not only protecting high risk individuals in their homes but extending that protection to the private spaces around residences and chose to submit those fences for certification to our LPS 1673 standard. Jacksons’ new certified range of timber fences provide an important aesthetic layer, bringing effective delay against violent intrusion. Their certified fences can also provide an additional layer of forced entry protection to the rear of residential properties, an aspect that crime figures repeatedly show are more commonly targeted during burglaries.”
