Hosted by Chef Pino Edward Sinaga (Toba, London), the series will celebrate the bold flavours, rich traditions and vibrant culture of Indonesia, with Chef Anie Kece (Makan Makan, Paris), Chef Sukma (Liège), Chef Taufik (Kendang, Vienna) and Chef Agus (the Netherlands).
Each chef represents one of four elements: Earth, Air, Fire and Water, and will include dishes like Wagyu beef perkedel, iga bakar, Sate Rusa, Bebek Madura, and Tuna Sambal Matah.
Guests will be taken on a journey across the Indonesian archipelago through a sharing menu of 15+ dishes (£95 per person).
Each guest will also receive their own Nusantara passport as a keepsake.
After London, the series will travel to Liège, Vienna, Paris and the Netherlands.
Championing Indonesia’s Flavours in St James’s Market
Toba is proudly leading London’s Indonesian food revolution, feeding Londoners' growing appetite for authentic and exciting new flavours, with heritage.
With only a handful of Indonesian restaurants in London, the dishes are surprisingly rare delicacies, and a cuisine which is experiencing a massive surge in popularity, driven by a transition from street-food stalls to high-end dining, and Londoners' growing appetite for authentic and exciting new flavours, with heritage.
Toba has been leading the way, since the enormous success of Chef Pino Edward Sinaga’s Camden Market food stall led him to open a fine dining Indonesian restaurant in the heart of St James’s Market.
Since launching four years ago, Toba has wowed critics, with Grace Dent describing the dishes as “bliss” “heavenly” and “earth shattering;” society bible Tatler naming it one of the world’s must-visit restaurants, and awards including Best Authentic Indonesian Restaurant for the past two SME UK Enterprise Awards.
Pino combines his passion and skill for introducing the UK to the flavours of Indonesia, with his impressive 25-year background, working at some of London's most high-end venues, from Annabel’s to Chiltern Firehouse. The result is authentic and diverse cuisine championing Indonesia’s 17,000 islands, fused with remarkable fine dining.
