On Saturday 24 October, Duchy, Shoreditch will be celebrating National Calvados Week with a special Calvados dinner in partnership with Père Magloire, dedicated to the flavours of Normandy and the versatility of Calvados.
The event is in partnership with Père Magloire, the renowned Normandy Calvados house, for an evening showcasing the spirit across an inventive five-course menu. From aperitif-style apple serves and cocktails to Calvados-led sauces, desserts and neat pours, the dinner will explore the many ways this delicious apple brandy can complement food.
Founded in 1821, Père Magloire is one of Normandy’s best-known Calvados producers, with its spirits rooted in the Pays d’Auge region and its long tradition of apple cultivation and distillation. For the Duchy dinner, a selection of Père Magloire expressions, including Pomme Doublée, Le Verger, Pommeau de Normandie, Fine V.S., V.S.O.P. and X.O. Calvados, will feature throughout the evening.
Five courses of Normandy gastronomy
Following a welcoming sparkling aperitif – Pomme 75, a Calvados-themed take on the classic French 75 cocktail, the menu moves into a series of dishes designed around the character of each expression. Guests can expect terrine of Calvados soused chicken livers with lardo di Colonnata and prune d’Agen, accompanied by a Le Verger Highball, followed by grilled Scottish scallops with smoked bacon and celeriac purée, paired with a Pommeau de Normandie Gimlet.
The main course brings Creedy Carver duck breast, potato galette, endive and Muscat grapes, finished with a V.S.O.P. Calvados reduction and paired with a V.S.O.P. Calvados Old Fashioned. A Tomme de Savoie cheese course with Le Verger poached pear and walnut bread follows, accompanied by a V.S. Calvados Negroni, before dessert – a Tarte Tatin of V.S.O.P. Calvados apples with Pommeau de Normandie caramel and crème Chantilly, finished with a pour of Père Magloire X.O.
The evening puts Calvados firmly at the centre of the table, demonstrating its ability to work across savoury dishes, desserts, long drinks and classic cocktails.
The Duchy x Père Magloire Calvados dinner takes place on Saturday 24 October 2026. Tickets are £65 per person, with an optional drinks pairing available for £35 per person. National Calvados Week runs across the UK from 16–26 October 2026, celebrating Normandy’s distinctive apple-based spirit through special menus, cocktails, tastings and food pairings.
