Discover a New Side of Bordeaux at Humble Grape This September

Bordeaux may be best known for prestigious châteaux, full-bodied reds and bottles saved for special occasions, but Humble Grape is proving there is far more to the region than its traditional reputation suggests.

For the month of September, Humble Grape is celebrating Bordeaux Month in partnership with Bordeaux Wine, with events, tastings, dining offers and a specially curated wine collection available across its venues.

The month is designed to introduce Londoners to a more modern and accessible side of Bordeaux. Alongside the region’s famous reds, guests can discover fresh whites, food-friendly styles, lesser-known producers and bottles suited to relaxed lunches as much as formal dinners.

Interactive Tastings and Call My Wine Bluff

One of the highlights is Call My Wine Bluff: Bordeaux with Libby Brodie, an interactive evening combining wine, food and a little friendly deception on 29 September.

Libby Brodie is a qualified wine consultant, founder of Bacchus & Brodie Wine Consultancy and wine columnist for City AM, where she writes the regular Wine Down Wednesday: Wine Without the Snobbery column.

During the event, Libby and one of Humble Grape’s own wine experts will present a selection of Bordeaux reds and whites. Each wine will be accompanied by two stories about its origins, but only one host will be telling the truth. Guests will be encouraged to ask questions, consider the clues and decide who is bluffing while learning more about the wines, producers and stories behind each glass.

Weekend Dining Offers and Take-Home Bottles

Those looking for a more casual introduction can book Humble Grape’s £20 Burgers & Bordeaux Saturday Lunch, available every Saturday from midday until 4pm at its Battersea, Islington and Canary Wharf venues. The Canary Wharf restaurant also runs the offer on Fridays.

The experience includes a classic beef burger with a glass of Bordeaux, demonstrating that the region’s wines can work just as well with an informal London lunch as they do with an elaborate dinner.

Guests can also explore Bordeaux through an £18 wine flight, created as an affordable way to taste and compare several different styles from the region. It is an ideal starting point for anyone who wants to discover what they enjoy without committing to a full bottle.

Humble Grape has also created a dedicated Bordeaux wine collection, available to purchase online and in its wine shops. The selection includes options for experienced Bordeaux drinkers as well as those exploring the region for the first time. Customers who purchase a Bordeaux wine to take home will also receive a complimentary Humble Grape tote bag.

To complete the celebration, one winner will receive a private Bordeaux tasting for 10 people, offering the chance to gather friends and discover the region together. Entry details will be shared through Humble Grape’s Instagram account, @humblegrape.

“Bordeaux has an incredible diversity that deserves to be explored, and we want Bordeaux Month to make discovering the region feel exciting, accessible and, above all, fun,” says Carlos Santos, Head of Wine at Humble Grape.

With tastings, relaxed lunches, interactive events and a wide range of bottles to discover, Humble Grape’s Bordeaux Month offers London wine lovers the chance to look beyond the labels and experience a different side of one of France’s most celebrated wine regions.
