A visionary research-led project with ambitions to create a step-changing ‘Pioneers Movement’ across London and the UK has been launched to implement and drive forward positive attitudes and lasting approaches to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB) in the workplace.
Belonging Pioneers, a trailblazing, London-based think-tank consultancy and programme provider, is now calling for City business leaders from forward-thinking companies who are committed to equity and inclusion to come forward and engage in groundbreaking research – DEIB 3.0, where expert insight and knowledge will be explored, tried and tested within their own businesses.
This collaborative network of pioneers will evolve, discuss and develop advanced, evidence-led methodology, with insights then being used to drive a ‘corporate movement’ which supports and creates change across wider UK industries.
Those participating in-person will engage in bi-monthly discussions in Central London. Other organisations will also be invited in ‘listen-only’ mode, attending remotely, with the findings from this research being presented and expanded upon at Belonging Pioneers’ leading-edge ‘Balancing the Scales’ conference and fundraising event in London next February.
Ishreen Bradley, Chief Inspiration Officer at Belonging Pioneers, explained, “DEIB 3.0 and the Pioneers Movement is an ambitious, trailblazing research and development programme launched to fully engage UK industry by asking business leaders to play a proactive part in driving forward sustainable change that produces triple bottom line results through an integral approach to DEIB.
“By having a very hands-on role and applying evolving methodology to their own workplace procedures and cultures, leaders can grow a visionary community whereby fit-for-purpose approaches to DEIB can be applied in line with today’s business, workplace and rapidly shifting societal needs.
“We have seen a lot of volatility over the past few months, and whilst the vast majority of organisations seek to embrace diversity in a very positive way, there is also clear evidence that others simply don’t know what to do or where to start despite their good intentions. Some are even determined to remove DEIB as a business responsibility altogether meaning they’re now out of touch with their employees’ needs and attitudes. This makes it a much more challenging issue to address.”
A core purpose of the research by Belonging Pioneers is to explore the emergent benefits and test the hypothesis that‘when ALL employees feel a part of a welcoming, more inclusive and responsible organisation with a clear shared purpose, a more positive culture emerges. This in turn increases productivity, loyalty and business growth’.
Ishreen added, “Those companies that come on board will be making a determined commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging for all. We’re therefore inviting UK-based organisations across all sectors, especially those based in London and/or with a particular focus on STEAM disciplines (such as fintech, insurance, engineering, IT, construction, arts, culture and media) to become part of the DEIB 3.0 research and Pioneers Movement as a way of taking positive action.”
