Blue Monday blues? Here are three things to do at London Wetland Centre to cheer yourself up on the ‘saddest day of the year’

Poor weather, darker evenings, a lower than normal bank balance and failed new year resolutions – it’s no surprise that, for most people, the third Monday of January is thought of as the most depressing day of the year.

To help Londoners beat the Blue Monday blues, London Wetland Centre has rounded up its best January offers and activities for big and little kids alike.

    1. Get up close and personal with a pair of Asian small-clawed otters
Join London Wetland Centre’s popular pair of Asian small-clawed otters Tod and Honey for their daily feed, and learn about their loves, lives and homemaking habits whilst they eat and play.

    2. Take a walk on the wild side
Research shows that just 10 minutes spent near wetlands can boost your sense of wellbeing. A secluded spot to find peace, and observe the migrating birdlife and soothing sunset, London Wetland Centre’s ‘Wildside’ area promises another level of tranquility for those who seek it.

    3. Let your mind fly
In winter, the skies above London Wetland Centre come alive with flocks of lapwing, wigeon, shoveler and teal. And, with six hides for watching wildlife and photography, there’s no shortage of opportunities to get comfortable and enjoy some time surveying the landscape.

Alexia Hollinshead, General Manager at London Wetland Centre, added: “At London Wetland Centre, we know how much immersing yourself in nature can help with boosting your mood and wellbeing. That’s why we want to encourage people to take a break and lose themselves in our urban oasis.”
