    The Black British Theatre Awards (BBTA) announces a star-studded lineup of presenters and performers for the 2024 highly anticipated ceremony. This year’s event promises to be an unforgettable night of recognition, entertainment, and celebration of Black excellence in British theatre.

    With this year’s event being hosted by The Lyceum, attendees can look forward to a breathtaking performance by the cast of The Lion King, celebrating 25 years in London’s West End. Followed by performances from the cast of MJ the Musical, Ray Shell performing ICED, the cast of Play On, and a very special performance by Akoma Asa Performing Arts. 

    Distinguished presenters take the stage

    The event will be hosted by BBTA co-founders and co-directors Solange Urdang OBE and Omar F Okai, who will be joined by a cohort of presenters including: 

    • Afua Hirsch, renowned writer and broadcaster
    • Ammar Duffus and Kemi Awoderu, breakout stars of “Stranger Things” in the West End
    • Brenda Emmanus OBE, distinguished journalist and broadcaster
    • David Albury, West End actor
    • Dawn Butler MP, prominent Labour Party politician
    • Hakeem Onibudo, respected choreographer and educator
    • Jazz Lintott, multi-award-winning actor and filmmaker
    • Joseph Toonga, award-winning choreographer
    • Kenneth Tharp CBE, cultural leader and arts advocate
    • Lemar, multi-award-winning R&B artist
    • Marisha Wallace, Broadway and West End powerhouse
    • Michelle Greenidge, known for her roles in popular British TV and recently in KAOS on Netflix
    • Myles Hart, acclaimed actor and singer 
    • Othman Read, legendary production manager of Hackney Empire
    • Omar F Okai, co-director & founder of BBTAs, Theatre Director and choreographer
    • Paul Isles, performer turned industry agent
    • Shelley Maxwell, esteemed choreographer and movement director
    • Solange Urdang OBE, Co-director & founder of BBTAs, Former CEO of Urdang Academy, educator and activist
    • Zoe Birkett, West End sensation

    “The 2024 Black British Theatre Awards represents a pinnacle of celebration for our community’s immense talent and creativity. Our lineup of presenters and performers embodies the diversity and excellence that define Black British theatre. This event not only honours current achievements but also inspires future generations to push boundaries and excel in the performing arts.
