    • Wandsworth African fashion designer Fée Uhssi is hosting a Black & Ethical Fashion Show at Southside
    • The free event showcases Fée’s latest collection, along with other designers and fashion brands from the black community in Wandsworth and South London

Wandsworth African-fashion designer Fée Uhssi is hosting an exclusive event at Southside Shopping Centre, showcasing Black and Ethical Fashion.

Taking place at 5pm on Saturday 24th February, The Black and Ethical Fashion Show is designed to showcase the future of African fashion, while promoting ethical practices, body positivity, diversity and community engagement. This one-of-a-kind catwalk show will spotlight Fée’s brand-new collection, alongside exclusive designs from well-established and emerging designers, as well as fashion brands from the black community in Wandsworth and South West London. Each garment and outfit has been thoughtfully designed to carry a narrative about its heritage and tell stories about its cultural significance.

Fée Uhssi is a Wandsworth-based Franco-Nigerian ethical fashion designer, artist and colour therapist who specialises in African textiles. Renowned for creating the Art of Fashion Wrapping, Fée designs multifunctional, convertible and reversible garments with sustainability and timeless elegance in mind.

The Black & Ethical Fashion Show is free to attend and will take place outside Waitrose at Southside Shopping Centre.

Fée Uhssi commented: “I’m thrilled to be hosting my Black & Ethical Fashion Show at Southside Shopping Centre. The goal is to showcase the beauty of African fashion within my hometown, while promoting ethical practices within the industry. I believe fashion can be a powerful tool for positive change, and through the event, I hope to inspire others to embrace diversity, inclusivity, and sustainability in their fashion choices.

“I’m excited to bring together designers, models, and fashion enthusiasts from all backgrounds to celebrate the rich heritage of African fashion and showcase the unique talents of our community, and I hope people can join me for an unforgettable evening of fashion, culture, and community.”

Pieter Strömbeck, Centre Director at Southside Shopping Centre, said: “As a shopping centre, we aim to create an inclusive space that everyone can enjoy, whilst also making a positive contribution to the local community.

“We’re proud to be joined by local Wandsworth designer Fée Uhssi and host her fashion show at Southside. The Black & Ethical Fashion Show provides an opportunity for the public to discover more about African fashion and view Fée’s latest capsule collection, as well as designs made by black-owned brands from the local community. We look forward to welcoming visitors to the centre who are curious to learn more about the African culture.”

The Fashion Show is part of Wandsworth Council’s Black History 365 – a series of educational and interactive creative workshops exploring African art and textile history, culminating in a community fashion show.
