Bathroom Graffiti Turned Musical Comedy: Caitlin Cook Brings ‘The Writing On The Stall’ to UK

American comedian Caitlin Cook is bringing her critically acclaimed musical comedy show “The Writing On The Stall” to London’s Soho Theatre for a limited four-night run this summer.

The innovative production, which transforms bathroom graffiti into original musical numbers, will play at the prestigious West End venue from 4th-7th June at 7:15pm.

Cook’s unique show unfolds in a public bathroom setting, taking audiences on a journey through irreverent, poignant, and often outrageous messages found scrawled on toilet walls. Londoners who caught her previous sold-out shows in the capital might already be familiar with some of the production’s more outlandish elements, including what promoters describe as “slingshotted underwear, milk pistols, and a cowboy dick (complete with spurs!)”.

“After building bits and pieces of this show for years and in front of UK audiences, it was so incredibly rewarding to return to seven sold out shows in London this summer,” Cook said. “I can’t wait to bring it back to the prestigious Soho Theatre.”

The Oxford-educated performer has garnered significant praise from comedy heavyweights, with SNL’s Michael Che simply advising, “Go see this show,” while David Cross called it “inventive and hilarious” and Cat Cohen described it as “Funny and fabulous!”

“The Writing on the Stall” was named a New York Times Critic’s Pick, and its accompanying studio album has garnered over 50 million streams across platforms. Cook has previously sold out several Off-Broadway runs, national tours, and last year’s Edinburgh Fringe.

    Tickets and available now.
