    AW24 Kitchen Trends

Kitchens have to live up to the expectations of being a place to cook meals, entertain, relax, have family catchups, study or work.

It’s no surprise that Kitchen interior trends are constantly evolving to keep up with the latest demands, which are often influenced by changes in lifestyle and shifts in design preferences. We look at the top trends for kitchen spaces in AW2024.

    Minimalist and Clean Lines

Keeping things uncluttered and sleek lets homeowners introduce clean-line design into kitchen schemes. Think hidden handles, simple lines and finishes that add detail.

    Bold Colour Choices

middle Moduleo LayRed York Stone 46755 from £47.99 per m2 and right Moduleo Roots, Laurel Oak 51332 from £35.29 per m2, Moduleo moduleo.co.uk

It’s not always about white cabinets and neutral tones. Colour can play a massive part in kitchen design, and deep blues, greens, and blacks are helping to create eye-catching kitchen spaces that offer places to rest, entertain and dine.

    Mixed Materials and Textures

This may not be a new trend, but mixed materials remain an excellent way to add contrast interest to kitchen design. Combine matte and glossy finishes, metal and wood, or stone and glass to achieve this tactile, comforting aesthetic.

    Multi-Functional Spaces

left Moduleo LayRed Midland Oak 22240 from £47.99 per m2 right Moduleo LayRed Cantera 46930 from £47.99 per m2, Moduleo, moduleo.co.uk

Open-plan layouts merge kitchens, dining, or living spaces into one space. The challenge is to define areas easily, but flooring can play a huge part in unifying open-plan schemes. Spotlight floors can help define areas such as dining or cooking spaces.

There’s some debate about whether kitchen islands remain a trend, but there’s no discounting their importance for adding extra seating or culinary spaces.

    Natural Light and Greenery

left Moduleo Roots, Fiastra 46733 and Sierra Oak 58876 from £35.29 per m2, right Moduleo Roots, Galtymore Oak 86851 from £35.29 per m2, Moduleo moduleo.co.uk

Adding plants and natural light to kitchen areas can help produce a bright and airy space conducive to dining. While large windows and skylights may be top of the list, selecting floors that gently scatter natural light throughout the kitchen can also contribute to achieving the look.

    Vintage and Retro Influences

left Blos Base, Coast Oak Beige vinyl floor from £37.99 per m2, Quick-Step, quick-step.co.uk right Annie Pleated Cotton Block Printed Scallop Lampshade from £95 [email protected] | huddlecollection.com

Whether choosing retro-inspired appliances or taking a leaf from 1950s freestanding styles, vintage remains a popular trend in kitchens. This trend ties in with a growing awareness of repurposing existing furniture or renovating a heritage piece as a focal point. When it comes to flooring, traditional patterns such as monochrome tiles, herringbone, and chevron can help support this popular theme.

    Industrial and Rustic Elements

left Impressive, White Planks laminate floor from £27.99 per m2, right Blos Base, Canyon Oak Grey with Saw Cuts vinyl floor from £37.99 per m2, Quick-Step, quick-step.co.uk

Industrial-inspired kitchens take a lead from the architectural details of commercial buildings. From exposed bricks and beams to lintels and structural elements, industrial trends celebrate the bare beauty of structure and practicality. For the ultimate look consider brass, copper and black metal for fixtures and hardware, along with a matte or concrete-style floor.

    Artistic and Bespoke Details

right Mad Men Griff, 8956 Copperfield rug from £175 (80 x 150cm), Louis De Poortere, louisdepoortere.com

Introducing a few custom-made or artisanal elements can help elevate kitchen spaces. AW24 sees the rise in kitchen runners and rugs and the introduction of indoor gardens, art and bespoke lighting.
