Review of the Weekend Luxury Brunch at Lucky Cat in Mayfair

I had the pleasure of experiencing the weekend luxury brunch at Lucky Cat in Mayfair, an Asian-inspired dining gem by Gordon Ramsay. The brunch menu, priced at £55, offers an exquisite blend of flavors and culinary creativity that truly kickstarts the weekend in style.

Starters
The starters set the tone for the brunch with an omakase sushi selection, beetroot & umeboshi with wafu, and tomato & strawberry with tofu cream. The sushi was fresh and artistically presented, while the beetroot & umeboshi provided a tangy and earthy contrast. The tomato & strawberry combination, complemented by tofu cream, was surprisingly delightful, balancing sweetness and creaminess perfectly.

Hot Kitchen
The hot kitchen offerings are where Lucky Cat truly shines. The ‘GFC’ chicken was spectacular—a crispy, flavorful treat that is a must-have. The duck leg bao, with spicy hoisin and pickled cucumber, was another highlight. The bao bun was perfectly cooked, soft yet not dry, and it melted in the mouth, combining beautifully with the rich duck and sharp cucumber.

Mains
For the main course, I had the baby chicken teriyaki with Asian chimichurri and the Colombo spiced monkfish. The baby chicken was succulent and flavorful, while the monkfish was cooked to perfection—tender and rich with a hint of exotic spices. We also sampled the rice and egg fried rice dishes. The egg fried rice was freshly prepared right in front of us, adding a delightful and interactive touch to the meal.

Desserts
The dessert selection was a sweet conclusion to an excellent brunch. The lucky lollipops were not only cute but also delicious, offering a playful end to the meal. The blue willow and mochi with fruits were equally enjoyable, each bite a testament to the thoughtfulness and creativity of the dessert menu.

Overall Experience
Lucky Cat by Gordon Ramsay extends its elevated Asian-inspired menu to a sensational Saturday brunch, perfect for all occasions—from hens parties to casual catch-ups with friends. The luxurious option to add bottomless prosecco for £40 or champagne for £60 further elevates the brunch experience, making it an indulgent affair.

The ambiance at Lucky Cat, reminiscent of 1930s Tokyo kissas and Shanghai’s drinking dens, complements the dining experience, making it not just a meal but an experiential journey.

In summary, the weekend luxury brunch at Lucky Cat in Mayfair is a delightful blend of exquisite dishes, inventive cocktails, and a charming atmosphere. It’s a culinary adventure worth embarking on and a perfect way to elevate your Saturday brunch plans.
