Tourism Malaysia is proud to announce that Malaysia has been nominated for multiple prestigious titles at the Wanderlust Reader Travel Awards 2025 – including the highly coveted title of “Most Desirable Country Worldwide” – affirming its position as one of the world’s most captivating and diverse travel destinations.
Organised by Wanderlust, one of the UK’s most respected and long-established travel publications, the annual awards celebrate excellence in global tourism and are voted for by passionate travellers across the UK and internationally.
In addition, Malaysia has been recognised across a wide range of categories that celebrate the country’s diversity and depth as a travel destination.
These include “Most Desirable City Worldwide” for Kuala Lumpur, “Most Desirable Region Worldwide” with both Sabah and Sarawak nominated, and “Most Desirable Island Worldwide” for Langkawi. Malaysia can also be voted for in several thematic categories including “Culture & Heritage”, “Nature & Wildlife”, “Adventure”, “Gastronomy”, and “Sustainability”.
These nominations highlight Malaysia’s broad appeal, from vibrant urban experiences and cultural heritage to pristine islands, lush rainforests, and sustainable adventures. Whether it’s sampling the diverse cuisine of Kuala Lumpur, exploring the biodiversity of Borneo, or relaxing on the beaches of Langkawi, and diving around Tioman and Redang Islands, Malaysia offers something for every traveller.
Mr. Sulaiman Suip, Director of Tourism Malaysia London, commented:
“We are honoured to see Malaysia recognised across so many key categories in this year’s Wanderlust Reader Travel Awards. These nominations are a testament to the incredible diversity of experiences we offer – from vibrant cities and lush rainforests to rich cultural traditions and world-class cuisine. We are deeply grateful for the continued support from our UK and international partners and travellers. We look forward to welcoming more visitors to discover the beauty, diversity and warmth of Malaysia.”
Malaysia’s nominations reinforce its reputation as a multifaceted destination where natural beauty, cultural richness, and warm hospitality come together to create unforgettable travel experiences.

Voting closes on 17th October 2025.
Winners of the Wanderlust Reader Travel Awards will be announced at a ceremony in London on 5th November 2025.
