Biophilic design, incorporating natural elements to enhance human connection with nature, is gaining ever-growing momentum in architecture and interior design with continued research demonstrating its positive impacts on wellbeing, productivity, and environmental sustainability. The Journal of Biophilic Design has been repeatedly asked for recommendations on products with biophilic, sustainable, and regenerative credentials, and the Biophilic Design Sourcing Hub is attuned to deliver this.

Vanessa Champion, founder of The Journal of Biophilic Design, said, “Through conversations with designers, architects, and other industry professionals, one need became clear: a trusted, transparent space to find vetted suppliers that align with biophilic design principles. Our Biophilic Design Sourcing Hub was created to bridge this gap.” The platform ( biophilicdesignsourcinghub.com) organises content across five main categories: ‘Materials & Surfaces’, ‘Furniture & Fixtures, ‘Accessories & Textiles’, ‘Green & Blue’ and ‘Only One’ (a dedicated space for exceptional one-of-a-kind pieces). Each product is assessed using a concise, dedicated rating system which, in addition to traditional sustainability certification, evaluates each product and its compatibility with core biophilic design principles. The process considers 10 key parameters covering various aspects of biophilic design, which provide a clear score for designers to make product and material choices according to sustainability and the principles of biophilic design. This personalised approach sets the platform apart, ensuring users discover the optimum platform to access biophilia into their projects.

Founded by the Journal of Biophilic Design, The Biophilic Design Sourcing Hub leverages an already established audience and integrated media channels, including a podcast with over 100 episodes and 30,000 monthly downloads. By association, suppliers and partners gain promotion across platforms including Audible, Amazon Music, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and YouTube guaranteeing extensive marketing exposure and direct connection to the specification audience.

Odile Smith, Sourcing Director based in Milan, added, “We are thrilled to accelerate the connection between designer and supplier with this unique platform. Our dedicated website provides a streamlined process for connections and a complimentary advisory service tailored to specific biophilic design requirements.”

The Biophilic Design Sourcing Hub is committed to accelerating positive change in the industry, allowing designers to focus on creativity while seamlessly connecting with verified suppliers who share their commitment to biophilic principles.
