Croydon has 10506 Christmas-related searches per 100,000 people, more than nine times the number of Christmas-related searches in Hastings, which has just 1101 searches per 100,000 people for Christmas-related things.
Bolton is officially the most Christmassy city in the UK.
Bolton boasts 10,967 Christmas-related searches per 100,000 people – more than any other city on the list.

Bolton boasts 10,967 Christmas-related searches per 100,000 people – more than any other city on the list, and nearly ten times more than Hastings, the UK’s ‘Grinchiest’ city. Hastings has just 1101 Christmas-themed searches per 100,000 people.
Manchester is the UK’s second most Christmas obsessed city, new research reveals. In Manchester, there are 10,634 Christmas-themed Google searches per 100,000 people.
The study, by leading SEO platform Ahrefs, analyzed 80 of the most popular Christmas-related keywords, including “Christmas”, “How many days until Christmas”, “Christmas movies”, “Christmas gift ideas”, and “Christmas music”, in every UK city with a population above 100,000 people. This allowed them to calculate which cities had the fewest Christmas-related searches per 100,000 residents, discovering the UK’s top ten ‘Grinch’ cities.

At the other end of the scale, Hastings is the UK city least interested in Christmas, with just 1101 Christmas-related searches per 100,000 people.
Watford is second on the list of ‘Grinchiest’ cities in the UK. In Watford, there were just 1503 Christmas-themed searches per 100,000 people.
Oxford ranks as the third ‘Grinchiest’ city in the UK, with 1505 Christmas-related searches per 100,000 people. Woking, Nottingham and Rotherham are fourth, fifth and sixth ‘Grinchiest’ cities in the UK, with 1616, 1767 and 1827 Christmas themed searches per 100,000 people.
Cambridge is the seventh biggest ‘Grinch’ city in the country, with 1956 Christmas-related searches per 100,000 people. Cardiff is eighth on the list of ‘Grinchiest’ UK cities, with just 2016 Christmas-themed searches per 100,000 people.
Derby is the ninth ‘Grinchiest’ city in the UK. In Derby, there were just 2182 Christmas-themed searches per 100,000 people in the city.
High Wycome is officially the tenth biggest ‘Grinch’ city in the country, with just 2199 Christmas-related searches per 100,000 people.

“It is fascinating to see how interest in the Christmas season varies from city to city in the UK, with some cities showing comparatively little interest in Christmas, and some showing incredible enthusiasm for all things Christmas-related, from trees and decorations, to cosy Christmas pyjamas and gifts.
