Award-winning chef, restaurateur, cookbook author, and culinary personality Dipna Anand, best known for her Brilliant group of restaurants, has embarked on a new venture at her own local by leading the kitchen at The Plough in Norwood Green. Recognised for her expertise in blending Indian and British culinary traditions, Dipna and her family are dedicated to preserving The Plough’s legacy and honouring it as a beloved local institution, bringing continuity whilst also introducing her signature touches to its delicious British pub fare.
Dating back to 1349, The Plough stands as a historic Grade II listed establishment, originally built as a small inn as the “Black Death” plague gripped the area, then known as “Norwude.” It holds the distinction of being the oldest pub in Southall and known to be the oldest pub in the Fuller’s portfolio.
“I’m thrilled to bring my passion for authentic, hearty food to Norwood Green,” says Dipna. “The Plough has always been a special part of this community and to my family – we live just around the corner. Our goal is to create a welcoming space for friends and families where they can gather, enjoy a drink, and share good food in a setting that feels like home.”
Open daily for lunch and dinner, the new menu features familiar comfort classics and Indian-inspired favourites. Starters include Dirty Fries with Beef Chilli or Tandoori Chicken Tikka while main courses range from Sausage and Mash and Beer-Battered Fish and Chips to Chana Masala, and the vegetarian-friendly Mushroom Halloumi Stack Burger.
Continuing the pub’s much-loved traditions, Dipna will host themed nights, including Dip In Burger Night held each Thursday, where guests can choose from eight burger options, including the full English breakfast burger, The Plough Beef Burger or the Moroccan Lamb Pitta Burger.
Dipna’s generous Sunday roasts are now available every weekend, offering an extensive selection of roast beef, lamb, chicken, pork, and a nut-free option, all accompanied by her signature sides and topped off with a range of classic desserts like sticky toffee pudding.
This year, The Plough’s festive Christmas menu will be available from November 27th through Christmas Eve (excluding Sundays), with main dishes such as traditional roast turkey with all the trimmings, beef Wellington, garlic butter salmon, and a vegetarian beetroot and butternut squash Wellington. Desserts include holiday favourites like Christmas pudding with brandy sauce, spiced mandarin cheesecake, warm chocolate brownie, and a cheese selection, ending with tea, coffee, and a mince pie.
