London immersive experience celebrates 15th anniversary with birthday event

London’s longest-running immersive experience Jeff Wayne’s The War of The Worlds: The Immersive Experience has celebrated its fifth anniversary with a special event for visitors, including a talk on outer space and Martian survival activities.

As part of its fifth anniversary celebrations, space scientist and teacher at Imperial College London, Dr Simon Foster, joined Layered Reality, the company behind Jeff Wayne’s The War of The Worlds: The Immersive Experience, to lift the lid on signs of life in outer space, extraterrestrial activity and the possibility of a hostile Martian invasion on Earth happening – as fictionalised in the experience.

Andrew McGuinness, CEO of Layered Reality, commented: “Since we opened our doors, we’ve welcomed over 200,000 guests – all of whom have played an important part in making Jeff Wayne’s The War of The Worlds: The Immersive Experience not only the longest running immersive experience in London, but also London’s number one immersive night out on Tripadvisor.

“There was no better way to celebrate our anniversary than with those who have helped keep the magic of the experience alive, and we’re very excited to be heading into our sixth year with a production that pushes the levers of creativity and promises more unforgettable memories for its guests.”

Originally opened in 2019, Jeff Wayne’s The War of The Worlds: The Immersive Experience brings the 1978 multi-platinum double album Jeff Wayne’s Musical Version of The War of The Worlds to life, and transports visitors back to 1898 to experience escaping a Martian-occupied Victorian England by combining virtual reality, live theatre and multi-sensory effects.
