Transgender musician Dylan And The Moon Celebrates Pride Month with Heartfelt New Single “Chosen Family”

In honour of Pride Month, award-winning musician and transgender artist Dylan And The Moon (Dylan Holloway) has released a touching new single titled “Chosen Family.” The song beautifully captures the bittersweet journey many in the LGBTQ+ community face: the sad pain of losing family and friends while discovering and embracing their true selves coupled with the joy of finding a new and supportive chosen family.

“Chosen Family” is a testament to the resilience and strength of the queer community. With a sincere and moving narrative, Dylan’s new release will unite and inspire those who have faced similar experiences. For this single, DIY musician Dylan, composed and produced the whole song from his home studio in south london, including the lush string arrangements and glorious vocal harmonies performed by Dylan’s friends; some of whom featured on the cover and are all members of the LGBTQ+ community, adding depth and authenticity to the piece.

Dylan, who has always been a vocal advocate for LGBTQ+ rights, describes “Chosen Family” as a deeply personal project. “This song is for everyone who has ever felt alone or lost on their journey to self-discovery. It’s a reminder that while we may lose some connections along the way, we also have the power to build new, meaningful relationships – a new beautiful family that we get to choose,” Dylan shares “I’ve been so fortunate to have always had a nurturing family, but lots of my chosen family haven’t have that – that’s why I wrote the song, it’s a love letter to my friends and the queer community, letting them know we’ll always have each other.”

The release of “Chosen Family” is timed to coincide with Pride Month, aiming to foster a sense of unity and solidarity within the LGBTQ+ community. The song’s universal message of love and acceptance is expected to resonate widely, offering comfort and hope to many. Dylan debuted this song during his performance at Birmingham Pride May 26th supporting Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Loreen, where he told the emotional northern crowd “if you ever feel like you have no one, remember you always have me.”

Dylan And The Moon is a dynamic and versatile artist known for his soulful voice and heartfelt songwriting. As a transgender man, Dylan has consistently used his platform to advocate for equality and love, becoming a beloved figure in the LGBTQ+ community. Dylan is the first and only transgender winner of a BBC Music show, credited to his music being able to transcend both genre and audience, blending elements of pop, soul, and folk to create a unique and moving sound. Last summer Dylan released a song with international superstar Jason Derulo and performed on the main stage at BBC’s Big Weekend alongside The 1975 and Lewis Capaldi; who gave Dylan a shout out during his own set after being impressed by Dylan’s music and stage presence.
