Your local guide to the best 10,000 step walks in London

10,000 steps a day can keep a risk of early death and heart-related events away, according to a recent study that analysed over 72,000 Brits. Just in time for spring, new social media app Playsee has created a local list of walking routes in London designed to help you meet that goal and visit local businesses and hidden gems along the way.

The map, which highlights local businesses along the top 3 walking routes in central London, points out some of the best small shopping destinations alongside local cafes and restaurants which are perfect to take a break to rest your feet.

One walking route bustling Marylebone to lush greenery of Hampstead Heath in a 4.2 mile route. Some of the key landmarks along the way include:

    • Primrose Hill Books
    • The Haverstock Tavern
    • Silverberry

Another 4.8 mile route heads south from Central London’s glitzy Bond Street to the heart of Brixton, with a few local gems worth stopping into, such as:

    • Kennington Lane Cafe
    • Van Gogh House London
    • Fish, Wings and Tings

Enjoy a perfect afternoon walk along the Thames, starting in the beautiful Battersea Park and heading west to Hammersmith’s cosy riverside pubs. Along this route, some local gems worth visiting are:

    • Lina Cafe
    • St Clements
    • Ta’mini Lebanese Bakery

Veronica Lin, Head of Brand & Strategy at Playsee, says: “London is such a culturally rich and diverse city that has so much to offer. However, trending social content and ‘must-visit’ round-ups have meant the same spots are frequented, which results in mass over-tourism. By visiting off-the-beaten-track neighbourhoods, markets and cultural landmarks you get to skip the queues and overpricing, but more importantly, support and celebrate local businesses who aren’t as well known. Playsee is the destination for those who want to discover hidden gems and support their local community, the app empowers users to share content and tips on the best neighbourhood-centric spots to discover.”

Playsee is the community-driven social media platform that encourages users to explore what’s on their front doorstep. With over 50 million global downloads, Playsee makes it easier for consumers to support and celebrate local communities and businesses this year by discovering new local spots through recommendations from within your local network.
