The return of the much-loved Livat Swaproom is back this month, as Livat Hammersmith gives swappers a way to sustainably restyle their wardrobes, as it embraces the community circular exchange for another year.
The Livat Swaproom offers a cash-free shopping experience where participants can exchange quality garments for Swaproom credits, which can then be used to ‘purchase’ new-to-them fashion finds – promoting mindful consumption and a more sustain approach to garments, with an on-hand styling from Nerrisa Pratt.
Known for her fondness of second-hand shopping and being a vocal advocate for circular fashion, Nerrisa Pratt will be at the Swaproom to share sustainable fashion tips, help visitors find hidden gems, and showcase how to make the most of pre-loved items.
Speaking on the collaboration, Nerrisa Pratt adds: “I’m thrilled to see more people making the swap from fast fashion in favour of a more sustainable wardrobe. Shopping your own clothes and building a capsule collection can be a fun way to push the boundaries of your own personal style and not to mention, it takes away the overwhelm and stress that overconsumption brings and makes getting dressed in the morning a whole lot easier. I’m excited to be partnering with Livat Hammersmith for the Swaproom and will be on hand with tips and tricks on how to revive your old favourites, level up your everyday looks and shop some new to you gems.”
Previous Swaproom events have seen over 1,271 items swapped, saving an estimated 8,102kg of carbon and 2.75 million litres of water. The initiative also led to a +2% increase in footfall at a time when London-wide retail footfall was declining by 0.7% year-on-year. Additionally, Livat Hammersmith’s ongoing sustainable clothes swaps, held in collaboration with Hammersmith BID, have resulted in 2,278 items exchanged in 2023 and 2024, diverting 618kg of clothing from landfill. This year’s excess clothing from the Swaproom event will also be donated to Royal Trinity Hospice, further enforcing Livat’s commitment to local charities.
Memo Hussein, Meeting Place Manager at Livat Hammersmith, said: ““The Swaproom has become a beloved tradition for our shoppers, offering a fun and sustainable way to give pre-loved items a new life. We’re excited to welcome back our visitors for another year of guilt-free swapping at Livat Hammersmith.”
The Swaproom will open its door at Livat Hammersmith for a limited time on Friday 28th February and Saturday 1st March 2025, inviting fashion lovers, sustainability advocates, and donations from local residents to take part in this swapping experience.
