Ask the drinks expert Deano Moncrieffe: London drinks done right

Mixologist, Agave Expert and Co-Founder of London’s first Agaveria’s, Hacha, Deano Moncrieffe spills the margs on where he likes to go for a tipple in the city..

As cocktails in London don’t always come cheap, Deano, the mixologist behind the 7th best cocktail in the world – Mirror Margarita the signature serve from Hacha, tells us which places are worth paying a visit, in terms of high-quality cocktails, and ambience.

As we hit the end of dry Jan, and Valentine’s Day, National Margarita Day (22nd Feb) and the first signs of spring approach, Deano lets us know which bars are worth making a booking for in 2024.

    1. Romantic/cosy corners

Happiness Forgets – a wonderful classic cocktail bar in Hoxton Square owned by a good friend of ours. It has got great drinks and vibes and some cosy dark corners.

    2. Great for Mexican/tequila-based drinks

Side hustle at the nomad hotel – brilliant agave based drinks in the beautiful setting of this iconic hotel.

    3. Spring option – outside terrace/great summer cocktails

Dalloway Terrace at the Bloomsbury hotel – tucked down a little nook right in the heart of the west end it has a picturesque terrace filled with beautiful flowers that transports you far out of London. Great cocktails too!

    4.Hacha (Dalston/Brixton village)

Of course I drink at my own bar, it’s good to keep trying our menu to ensure that we offer the highest quality drinks on the menu which show innovation too, especially for people that love agave spirits and come from all over to try our menu. We also serve the first clear margarita in London/UK, our signature cocktail Mirror Margarita, is served just with ice, I love trying this, and playing around with new ideas and ingredients! For National Margarita Month coming up on 22nd Feb – 2nnd March, every Wednesday the first 100 guests at both Hacha locations will get a free taco dish with the margarita special !

Mirror Margarita is served at Hacha, and bottled to buy directly online from the website, and now available from180 Sainsbury’s stores nationwide to enjoy bar quality cocktails at home. MM Bottle (5 serves) £25.00.
